So here's a story about how I got all pissed off.

Tonight I went to watch a Manchester United Match. We win 3-1 and me and my friends leave happy. Our plan is to get the train to Manchester Picadilly before getting a train to another station and then getting the last train from there back to my house. So we get to Picadilly in good time, grab some food from Sainsbury's and then see our train is delayed by ten minutes. Time goes by, train delayed by 20 minutes....you get the picture.....Fifty minutes later the train finally shows up...only the last fucking train we had to get at the last station had LONG GONE. And we're left to get my dad to pick us up. Just if you can't understand what happened here's it timetabled in the events what should've happened and what did happen.

21.54 Train from Old Trafford to Manchester Piccadilly
22.42 Train from Picadilly to Stalybridge train station
23.14 Train from Stalybridge to Mossley
23.30 Train from Picadilly to Stalybridge
23.50 Lift from Stalybridge to Home
12.00 Arrive home

That's two fucking hours for a journey that shouldn't took 1 hr 30 Max. I am sick of the train service in this country. The amount of tax we pump into it for what? Why the fuck are you encouraging us to use public transport when it's god awful sh*t? No one wants to use a service that's unreliable. Also why the fuck do they ensist on putting TWO yes TWO carriages on a peak rush hour train which gets packed to hell like a tin of sardines, and then four on an off peak unused train? Waste of resources much? Seriously why can't our services take example from the London where even if the trains are late they make up for it by frequent service and lot's of carriages. AND trains till later than 11pm.

Is the train service bad where you are?

The Manchester trains are shitty.

My company sent me on a 2 day course a couple of years ago, and I had to get to Bramhall from Southport (where I live). So, I needed to go Southport -> Piccadilly -> Bramhall. The morning journey was just about ok, but at night, it wasn't so easy. I got the train from Bramhall to Piccadilly and then when I got there, I found out the Southport train had been cancelled. There's only 2 Southport trains after 5pm, one was at 6.30pm (the cancelled one) and the next was at 9.30pm, so I would have had hit wait over 4 hours for another train.

I ended up having to go Piccadilly -> Hunt's Cross (via train to Lime Street Station) -> Southport.

I only used that train 2 days and had to deal with that, and delays. I hate the nothern rail lines.

The Liverpool trains (Merseyrail) are great. I used to go to work and back every day using them and in the year that I used them, there was probably 3, maybe 4 delays. The trains are nicer too.

I've been driving for nearly 2 years now, so I've not used the train in ages.

It's absolutely ridiculous here dod. The fact that people are using the service for 2 days and notice how it is just underlines how crap it is. Really I don't know what Northern Rail play at and First Trans Pennine as well, it really needs sorting, I might start a campaign or something because I feel enraged about it, even the fact that one of my mates got through with the ticket he had from old Trafford then my other mate had to pay £3.50 because apparently the ticket didn't cover the journey even though my other mate had the exact same ticket. I really don't know what would have to be done to make them get their acts into gear but if it doesn't sort soon I'm just going to start driving.

When I was on holiday in London the trains there were great. They were on time and they ran so often. We didn't get out of London though so I didn't get to experience the other train lines.

In Australia the trains are okay. They do sometimes run late but normally it doesn't exceed 10 minutes. The trains are dirty though as there are so many ferals that take them. We also have lots of issues every summer with the tracks bending due to the heat which causes huge delays. If I take public transport I take the bus and that system is good except for the fact that the leg room is designed for midgets and not tall people.

One train system that is fantastic is the one in Netherlands. We used that every day for two weeks travelling all over the country and it was always on time and it was clean. It was well signed and overall it was a great experience. I wish the Australian system ran like the Dutch one.
