I'm so sick and tired of people saying that ECW just needs to be scrapped. it truly doesn't. it is a show to build up younger talent and then send them off to one of the Big shows (like what they did with Snitsky). Also, they had the whole new breed story for a wile and that was actually pretty entertaining.

Now, Punk and Nitro are starting their feud over the ECW championship. both of them are pretty good (not so much Nitro as Punk but still...) and their match at Vengeance wasn't bad... hopefully WWE spices it up somehow, instead of the same old you're the champion i want your title.

Compare ECW to what it was before; velocity or heat. Heat was around for a pretty long time, before they scrapped it. it was pretty bad, what with them just putting young no names against other lowcard guys, and using it for wrestler tryouts. Velocity, the same thing as heat, never had any storylines and really had no depth to the show besides two wrestlers who both wanted to win. Both of these shows sucked; plain and simple. ECW on the other hand is far better than any Heat or velocity show WWE ever produced.

Finally, i have to ask this. What would be different about ECW if Benoit didn't go crazy. We'd be seeing a Feud between Punk and Benoit, which i would've payed money to see. granted, he did go crazy and kill himself (as we all know) therefore that won't be happening; But if it did go through would you be saying you want ECW to get scrapped? No, you wouldn't. Just because it had a bad rating last tuesday doesn't mean it's a failure... that's one week.

Good point. Yeah, when I saw that Benoit was headed to ECW, and Lashley and Snitsky were gone, I was like "YES!!!!", but after what happened w/ Benoit, I kind of have lost interest in it. He was the guy that made me wanna turn back to ECW, and now hes not there now. I guess Ill just be going back to IMPACT full time now.

But anyway, good statements

Im not even an old ECW fan but everything you have said is the reason why ECW is such a joke. You say its a show to develop new talent but thats the whole point. ECW or Extreme Championsip Wrestling as it is meant to be known, is supposed to be about serious hardcore brutality, the x rated wrestling show, not about being a stepping stone to Raw or Smackdown. Yes, there needs to be a place to develop talent, but people hate it because ECW is nothing like the ECW it used to be before it was owned by WWE.

Good thread. I have stated this time and time again. ECW is a glorified development territory, which is pulling in good ratings, compared to other programming on the Sci-Fi network and constantly gets higher ratings than TNA. Although ECW is another brand within WWE, it is more of a 'test drive' for the other two brands. It shouldn't be compared to those brands. It will never be on the same level as Raw/SD!, but it can help those brands improve. Also, it is a good place for the younger guys to 'ply their trade' before going to the big league. Too often, younger guys are called up to Raw/SD! when they are still 'green' and this hurts them. However, ECW gives them the opportunity to develop and get used to wrestling infront of larger crowds.

Stop ragging on ECW, just becuase it doesn't feature the massive names of Raw/SD!.

I am sorry but I gotta disagree...

Maybe its just my opinion but, if WWECW gets scrapped RAW and Smackdown! will get alot better. I would love to see CM Punk on Smackdown! and Nitro back on RAW and stuff. I mean, both Smackdown! and RAW can have an even more stacked roster if WWECW got scrapped and the roster got spread out between RAW and Smackdown! which would be great. Just look at WWE around early 2006. The royal rumble wasnt that great but No Way Out was awsome and Wrestlemania 22 was amazing, because both RAW and Smackdown! had great rosters. Now that WWECW has come in, IMO it has taken away from RAW and Smackdown!

Ok, the first post i made was basically directed towards you^^. The rosters for Raw and SD are already packed, even with ECW People are getting left off cards every week. WWE has too much talent for just 2 brands; I'm pretty sure that's why they made ECW in the first place.

As for them pissin gon the grave of the original ECW, i agree; they have. It's not what it used to be at all... but quite frankly get over it. WWE didn't try to mold it after the original at all; they played to their advantage (owning the rights to the ECW name) to get people to watch who were original ECW fans. Also, this thread wasn't about whether or not it was the same, it's about whether or not it should be discontinued... and the answer is no; it shouldn't.

Since the NB-original feud, I think ECW is better than Smackdown, and I still stand by my statement. Smackdown is getting quite boring and I feel lik turning it off everytime I see Batista, Mark Henry and Khali

Some people may know my current opinions on ECW i've even made a thread about it.
For one hour show ECW is really good everything runs smoothly it never turns into a big clusterfuck.

I hate the people who say "it's not the old ECW we want it to be how it was the first time around with hardcore wrestling all the time"

First off all ECW was alot more than just hardcore wrestling.

And It didn't succeed the first time around, what makes you think it will this time?

With ECW very small roster they are doing a very good Job, Hell i would watch ECW over Smackdown. It's a great place to test guys and see how the crowds respond to them. As 3lions said "ECW is a glorified development territory, which is pulling in good ratings"

ECW doesn't need to get scapped, ECW is doing well... this all came because of its recent low ratings... who cares, really. ECW is watchable unlike some other 1 hour wrestling shows which will not be mentioned, so I think ECW should stay put and continue building up the mid-carders which is what ECW is doing.

What to do with ECW?

What should the wwe do with ECW, Simply discuss after previous low ratings what should happen to ECW. I believe WWE should push to make the show go for an hour and a half and keep ECW as a devepment show for the wwe giving young stars tv time. ECW at the momment is not pleasing alot of people and I think should make the show go for an extra hour, Give us some good old Extreme rules main events that can go for half an hour involving the future of the wwe.

Viscera: This guy should and probarly will be pushed as a monster heel, Viscera should be used as a wrecking machine and show dominance on ECW, This man could be one of the real ECW men if used right.

Elijah Burke: The future of the WWE, Elijah Burke should continue to get TV time on ECW and be placed in nice long matches to showcase his ability.

Johnny Nitro: The ECW champ and main man should have a nice long run as ECW Champion, He is the only real man that can hold the ECW title at the moment and this guy should be main eventing week in week out with the ability he has.

CM Punk: Another man that will be the future of this buisness and a ECW fan favourite. CM Punk is keeping ECW on its feet and without him the show would be struggling, CM Punk should not be pushed to quick and be given ECW Title yet but this man should continue to fued with the top heels on ECW such as Nitro and Burke.

Matt Stryker: This man can work as a top heel and first thing to do is drop the school teacher gimmick, Matt Stryker is great on the mic and why not give this man more ring time, He can wrestle and is very good on the mic so drop the school teacher gimmick and give Stryker some badass gimmick because this man has what it takes to be a top heel.

The Miz: The Miz can be used as a face or a heel I beleive but he should be used as a heel, He is very good on the mic and I would like to see a new talk show Miz TV on ECW once a month like the cutting edge, The Miz is getting better and better in the ring and can be only keep improving, I would really like to see a big push with this guy and have him go for the ECW Title sometime this year.

Marcus Cor Von: Cor Von is a man that could headline PPV's in two years time and I think should not be made as a heel with the number of heels on ECW, They should turn him face and continue giving this guy time, Who dosent like seeing the pounce. Cor Von could be way over with the fans and has plenty of great moves to show so this guy deserves a ME run in ECW before being moved to Smackdown or Raw.

Kevin Thorn: This guy has what it takes, He is big, He is strong and he can become a monster fued, Thorn is not incredible on the mic and not the greatest wrestler but ECW should continue building up Thorn and have him take out low to mid-carders then he should be moved to raw or smackdown and go for some gold.

Tommy Dreamer: Now this guy is getting old but can still put on a show and ECW needs to have more Extreme Rules matches and have this guy take part in most of them, He is way over in the fans and is one of the only ECW Originals left, Dreamer should not be pushed but should be given some big fueds with the likes of Burke and Miz to work them up the rank's.

The Boogeyman: Well, He has victorys over the likes of JBL and King Booker and should be pushed in ECW, Boogeyman should be used to take place in some big fueds with future superstars.
