Considering Chavo Guerrero was champion back when he had the belt and he was also in the Royal Rumble that year, I sincerely doubt WWE cares whether or not the ECW Champion is in the Rumble match.

But, Chavo didn't compete in a match at the Royal Rumble before the Royal Rumble match, to much of my memory.

I don't think I can sit through a Matt Hardy match at all let alone a Matt Hardy match on ECW

I'm looking forward to the tournament, should be some good matchups, I'm seeing Christian, Benjamin, Ryder, Regal, Tatsu, Hurricane, Archer and Zeke being in their from ECW, not sure of who will come back though, lets hope Punk anyways because he's really not doing anything on SD.

Sucks that they want Christian to defend against somebody at the Rumble though, a majority of us would really like to see Christian win the Rumble!

Yeah, I stopped relying on WZ reports months ago. Don't even go on the site at all anymore.

BUT, if this is true, it'd suck. I mean, I know it limits what you can do when you have 8 guys in the finals of a tornament, but still, just for that fact alone I wouldn't have 8 people in the finals.

Ye, it's an eight man battle royal on the January 12 editiion of ECW. JoMo vs. Christian or Christian vs. Bourne is something I would like to see TBH, but knowing WWE, it'll probably be Show vs. Christian, which wouldn't be entirely bad simply because Christian is epic.
