Michael Cole: However will MVP be Ballin’ his way to another title defense victory or will the reign of the Highest Paid Athlete in Smackdown history suffer a loss here tonight and lose the United States Championship that he has defended for the past four months.

The bell rings as the United States Championship match is officially underway. MVP begins the match with some quick right hands, but Jeff is able to duck MVP. Hardy who connected with the Swanton Bomb to MVP this past Friday on the first edition of the VIP Lounge! Hardy hits a right hand to the face of MVP. Hardy goes for an Irish whip to the ropes, but MVP reverses it. Hardy goes to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and MVP goes for a clothesline. Hardy ducks and comes off of the ropes and connects with a lariat. Hardy quickly gets to his feet and hits MVP with a clothesline. MVP quickly gets to his feet and is hit with another clothesline. Hardy hits MVP with another clothesline. MVP then looks to get back to his feet once more, but then decides to roll out of the ring. MVP looks to start heading towards the entrance way when Hardy comes off of the ropes and leaps and connects with a huge cross body to MVP and both men are down on the outside as Hardy gets back to his feet slowly! Hardy slowly gets back to his feet and picks up MVP. Hardy then goes for an Irish whip but MVP reverses it at the last moment and Hardy goes shoulder first into the steel steps as he holds his left shoulder. However MVP wastes no time as he then comes right at Jeff and connects with a huge kick to the left shoulder that sends Jeff back to the floor on the outside as the crowd continues to boo MVP for the cheap heat move. Referee Jimmy Korderas is at the count of four, when MVP rolls back into the ring and then rolls back out of the ring to break up the count and restart the count. MVP picks up Hardy and then puts Hardy’s left arm in an arm twist followed by locking the arm around the back of Hardy before connecting with an overhead belly to belly suplex right on the outside floor as Hardy hits the ringside padding and is holding his left shoulder which is in a lot of pain as MVP rolls back into the ring and rolls back out of the ring to break the count up once more which was at the count of four this time. MVP then picks up Hardy and then lifts him over his head before dropping him shoulder first across the barricade as the crowd continues to grow livid with the champion, MVP as MVP has a smirk on his face as this title match continues! MVP picks up Hardy and rolls him back into the ring. MVP slides back into the ring and then hooks one of the legs of Hardy for the first cover of the match!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up! MVP picks up Hardy and then sends him to the ropes. MVP then catches Hardy with a Samoan Drop. Hardy though lands right on the left shoulder as Korderas comes over to check on Hardy to see if he can continue the match. Hardy signals that he can continue the match. MVP then picks up Hardy and then sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and Hardy is hit with a clothesline. MVP then picks up Hardy and is hit with a right jab to the face. MVP then begins to move around the ring a bit before connecting with two more jabs. MVP then looks to complete the “Johnson Shuffle†and then connects with a right hook to the face that sends the challenger to the canvas. MVP then hooks the right leg once more for the cover.

AND once again Hardy gets the shoulder up, though it’s taking more energy from Hardy each time he uses his left shoulder to break up the count! Hardy slowly is pulled from off the canvas by the champ and is sent to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and MVP hits a drop toe hold. MVP then goes right back to the left shoulder with some right hands to the injured shoulder. MVP gets to his feet and goes to the ropes and hits a knee to the left shoulder that sends Hardy rolling over to his back on the canvas. MVP gets to his feet and then goes to the ropes. MVP then taunts the crowd and then proceeds to hit the “Ballin†Elbow! The crowd boos the champ as MVP once again makes the cover.

AND NO! MVP can’t get the three count as Hardy gets the shoulder up once more. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and MVP goes for a clothesline but misses. Hardy comes off of the ropes and MVP goes for another clothesline. Jeff ducks and goes to the ropes and then goes to the ropes and connects with a flying lariat that sends both men down to the canvas which gets a huge pop from the audience. Jeff slowly uses the ropes to pull himself back up. Jeff gets to his feet and MVP comes at him and Jeff ducks and MVP is now caught up on the top rope as Hardy pulls the ropes down and the ropes hits MVP in the groin!
Hardy then goes to the top rope and then connects with a leaping clothesline that sends MVP back into the ring. Jeff holds his left shoulder as he makes his first cover of the match.

AND NO! MVP kicks out. Hardy picks up MVP and sends him to the corner. Hardy then comes at MVP but MVP hits Jeff right in the left shoulder once again. MVP then catches Hardy with a Russian Leg Sweep. MVP picks up Jeff and then locks in the abdominal stretch as the crowd begins to chant Hardy trying to get the challenger back into the match. Jeff tries to fight the pressure from the hold, but MVP continues to add pressure to the left shoulder of the challenger. The crowd continues to jeer MVP as MVP is looking to finish the match quickly. MVP though refuses to break the hold as Hardy tries to fight out of the hold. Finally though MVP breaks the hold after about twenty five seconds and then begins to stomp at the left shoulder of Hardy. MVP then picks up Hardy and connects with a snap suplex. MVP then picks up Jeff and connects with another snap suplex. MVP then picks up Jeff and then sends him to the ropes. Jeff comes off of the ropes and is hit with a flapjack as Jeff bounces off the top rope and then is hit with a big boot to the face from MVP and then a cover in the middle of the ring!

AND NO! Hardy somehow is able to get the shoulder up once again here in this match. MVP gets to his feet and picks up the challenger before sending him to the ropes. Jeff comes off of the ropes and MVP locks in a headlock. MVP though quickly changes the headlock into an arm bar twist. MVP then connects with an arm toss and still holding the left arm of Hardy before letting go of the hold and then kicking the left shoulder as Hardy holds the shoulder once more. Korderas once again checks on Hardy as Hardy once again signals that the match continues. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the corner. The ref tries to get in the face of MVP. MVP then goes to Hardy looking to connect with the boot to the face. However Hardy catches MVP with the boot. Hardy then spins MVP around and connects with an eniziguri kick to the face of MVP. Hardy then crawls over to the champion, MVP, and makes the cover.

AND MVP gets the shoulder up as the crowd lets out a huge sigh. Jeff slowly gets to his feet and picks up MVP and sends him to the ropes. MVP comes off of the ropes and is hit with a dropkick from Jeff Hardy! Hardy gets to his feet and picks up MVP and sends him to the ropes and then connects with a sit out jawbreaker. Jeff doesn’t make the cover but instead goes to the top rope. Jeff then goes for a moonsault but is hit by MVP with his knees to the stomach. Jeff doubles over to the canvas as MVP gets to his feet. MVP picks up Jeff and connects with a high angle back drop. MVP picks up Jeff and sends him back to the ropes. Jeff comes off of the ropes and ducks a clothesline. Jeff comes off of the ropes and ducks another clothesline and then both men collide in the center of the ring with a double clothesline! Both men are down as Korderas looks over at both men before starting the ten count. 1…..2…..3….4……5………6……..7……and Jeff gets to his feet first…..8….and MVP is up. MVP though goes for a right hand but is blocked by Hardy. Hardy connects with a right hand followed by another one. Jeff goes for an Irish whip to the ropes that is reversed by MVP. Jeff comes off of the ropes and is hit with the Show Kick (Spinning Capioera Kick) before making the cover to a bunch of heat from the crowd!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up. However it looks like Hardy might be almost out of the match here. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and is hit with an overhead belly to belly suplex that sends Hardy to the outside. However MVP quickly slides out of the ring and then picks up Hardy. MVP then whips Hardy right into the ring post. Hardy bounces off of the ring post and turns around and is hit with a clothesline from off of the apron. MVP then gets to his feet and says “I’m Better Than Jeff Hardy and I’m Better than Each and Every Single One of You!†The crowd really begins to give MVP some heat as he gets Hardy back to his feet and then sends back to the floor with a clothesline before smiling to even more heat from the crowd. MVP rolls Hardy back into the ring at the count of six. MVP goes to the apron and then does a leaping leg drop to the sternum of Hardy before making the cover once again in the match!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up at the last moment once again. MVP picks up Hardy and connects with some knees to the face of the challenger. Hardy is then sent to the ropes and is hit with a knee to the stomach. MVP then goes for the Playmaker but Hardy counters it and then kicks Hardy in the stomach before going for a heel kick, but Hardy is countered by MVP. Hardy though then goes for and connects with a mule kick right to the stomach that sends MVP to the canvas and Hardy lands on his feet. Hardy picks up MVP and sends him to the corner. Jeff comes at MVP and connects with a clothesline in the corner. Jeff then picks up MVP and puts him on the top rope. Jeff then climbs to the middle turnbuckle and then goes for and connects with the suplex from off the ropes. Both men are down. Both men are down in the middle of the ring as the match continues! Korderas checks both men before starting the count. 1………..2………3…………...4…………5………6……….and Hardy gets a shoulder over the chest of MVP for the cover!

AND MVP gets the shoulder up once again! The crowd thought that Hardy had the match won. Hardy gets to his feet and picks up MVP but MVP gets a thumb to the eye of Hardy. MVP then connects with a side slam to Hardy. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the corner. MVP comes at Hardy and then connects with the boot to the face. MVP then picks up Hardy and connects with a chop to the chest of Hardy, in the style of Flair. Hardy is sent to the corner. MVP comes at Hardy, but Hardy moves out of the way. MVP hits the turnbuckle. Hardy goes to the apron and then runs and then jumps to the middle of the top rope and catches MVP with a tornado cutter (modified RKO). The crowd can’t believe the move as Hardy hooks the leg for the cover once more!

AND once more Hardy can’t get the three count as MVP gets the shoulder up. Hardy sees MVP trying to get to his feet and hits him with a seated senton splash into a cover!

AND MVP escapes the pin attempt to a bunch of heat from the crowd. MVP gets to his feet as well as Hardy. MVP goes once again for the football kick, but Hardy ducks out of the way. Hardy then kicks MVP in the stomach as MVP turns around. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate, but is blocked by MVP. MVP then connects with the Show Kick out of nowhere! MVP then gets to his feet and picks up Hardy and connects with a scoop slam instead of going for the cover immediately. MVP then goes to the ropes. MVP comes off of the ropes and goes for the “Ballin†Elbow once again! However this time Hardy moves out of the way as MVP misses this time! The crowd gives out a huge pop as Hardy gets to his feet. Hardy gets to his feet and goes to the outside. Hardy begins to climb the top rope. MVP gets to his feet and goes to the ropes that knocks Hardy off of the buckle and Hardy hits his groin on the turnbuckle on the top rope. MVP gets to the top rope and picks up Hardy and connects with a Superplex from the top rope as the crowd gives a huge pop for the move as both men are once again back down on the canvas as the match continues! MVP slowly begins to move as he makes his way over to Hardy. MVP gets a shoulder over the chest of Hardy for the cover.

AND NO! Hardy gets the shoulder up once more as the crowd can’t believe it. MVP begins to grow frustrated as he thought he had the match won! MVP makes the cover once more!

MVP is livid now as he begins to attack the left shoulder of Hardy once again with a bunch of right hands to the shoulder. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and is hit with another Samoan Drop. MVP doesn’t make the cover but goes right back to the left shoulder of Hardy with some more right hands. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the corner. MVP comes at Hardy, but Hardy ducks out of the way. MVP leaps to the top rope. Hardy turns around and is hit with a missile dropkick from MVP! MVP once again makes the cover!

AND Hardy again gets the shoulder up and the champ can’t believe it as the match continues! MVP can’t believe it. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and MVP goes for a clothesline but misses. Hardy comes off of the ropes and goes for a moonsault from off the ropes. MVP catches Hardy, but Hardy counters and then connects with a spinning DDT! Both men are down once again as Hardy gets the shoulder over the chest for the cover.

AND MVP gets the shoulder up once again. Hardy then gets to his feet and goes to the outside. Hardy goes up to the top rope. Hardy does his signature taunt and then goes for the Swanton Bomb but misses! The crowd is shocked as Hardy might have just cost himself the match and his chance at winning the United States Championship! MVP gets the shoulder over the chest of Hardy for the cover once again!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up and the crowd gives Hardy a huge pop as they thought that the match was over. MVP picks up Hardy and connects with some right hands but Hardy fights back. MVP though gets a thumb to the eye of Hardy and then kicks him in the stomach and goes for the Playmaker once more! MVP connects with it! The fans are stunned once more as both men are down and MVP can’t make the cover yet as the match continues!
The fans are chanting for Hardy to get back into the match. Hardy is still down though as MVP begins to move after a few moments, though the movements are slow. MVP continues to crawl on the canvas until he gets over to Hardy who is still down. MVP finally gets the shoulder over Hardy as Korderas makes the count once more in the match!

AND NO! Hardy gets the shoulder up as the arena is on its feet! MVP can not believe it as he shakes his head in disgust. Hardy is still down as MVP gets to his feet and goes out to the apron. MVP begins to climb to the top rope as the crowd here in Portland, Maine knows what’s coming next from MVP. MVP gets to the top rope and looks at Hardy who is still down on the canvas, before going for the Rising Star (Shooting Star Press). MVP MISSES AS HARDY MOVES OUT OF THE WAY AT THE LAST MOMENT! The crowd is cheering on Hardy like never before in this match as Hardy has the chance to finally win the United States Championship! Hardy slowly gets to his feet and gets ready to go to the outside when MVP slowly gets to the ropes to get to his feet. MVP is up and comes at Hardy, who blocks a right hand to the face! Hardy connects with a right hand to MVP. MVP goes for an Irish Whip, but Hardy reverses it. MVP comes off of the ropes and Hardy connects with a huge lariat. MVP gets up to his feet and Hardy comes at him. MVP goes for an overhead belly to belly suplex. Hardy lands on his feet though this time. MVP turns around and comes at Hardy but Hardy moves out of the way. MVP collides into the turnbuckle. Hardy turns MVP around and connects with the kick to the stomach followed by the Reverse Twist of Fate! The crowd is going wild as they chant Hardy’s name as Hardy goes to the outside and goes to the top rope. Hardy once again does his signature taunt before going for the Swanton Bomb once again! HARDY CONNECTS WITH THE SWANTON BOMB TO MVP! The crowd is chanting for the cover as Hardy hooks the legs of MVP for the cover as the crowd counts in unision!

MVP comes off of the ropes and is hit with a dropkick from Jeff Hardy! Hardy gets to his feet and picks up MVP and sends him to the ropes and then connects with a sit out jawbreaker. Jeff doesn’t make the cover but instead goes to the top rope. Jeff then goes for a moonsault but is hit by MVP with his knees to the stomach. Jeff doubles over to the canvas as MVP gets to his feet. MVP picks up Jeff and connects with a high angle back drop. MVP picks up Jeff and sends him back to the ropes. Jeff comes off of the ropes and ducks a clothesline. Jeff comes off of the ropes and ducks another clothesline and then both men collide in the center of the ring with a double clothesline! Both men are down as Korderas looks over at both men before starting the ten count. 1…..2…..3….4……5………6……..7……and Jeff gets to his feet first…..8….and MVP is up. MVP though goes for a right hand but is blocked by Hardy. Hardy connects with a right hand followed by another one. Jeff goes for an Irish whip to the ropes that is reversed by MVP. Jeff comes off of the ropes and is hit with the Show Kick (Spinning Capioera Kick) before making the cover to a bunch of heat from the crowd!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up. However it looks like Hardy might be almost out of the match here. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and is hit with an overhead belly to belly suplex that sends Hardy to the outside. However MVP quickly slides out of the ring and then picks up Hardy. MVP then whips Hardy right into the ring post. Hardy bounces off of the ring post and turns around and is hit with a clothesline from off of the apron. MVP then gets to his feet and says “I’m Better Than Jeff Hardy and I’m Better than Each and Every Single One of You!†The crowd really begins to give MVP some heat as he gets Hardy back to his feet and then sends back to the floor with a clothesline before smiling to even more heat from the crowd. MVP rolls Hardy back into the ring at the count of six. MVP goes to the apron and then does a leaping leg drop to the sternum of Hardy before making the cover once again in the match!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up at the last moment once again. MVP picks up Hardy and connects with some knees to the face of the challenger. Hardy is then sent to the ropes and is hit with a knee to the stomach. MVP then goes for the Playmaker but Hardy counters it and then kicks Hardy in the stomach before going for a heel kick, but Hardy is countered by MVP. Hardy though then goes for and connects with a mule kick right to the stomach that sends MVP to the canvas and Hardy lands on his feet. Hardy picks up MVP and sends him to the corner. Jeff comes at MVP and connects with a clothesline in the corner. Jeff then picks up MVP and puts him on the top rope. Jeff then climbs to the middle turnbuckle and then goes for and connects with the suplex from off the ropes. Both men are down. Both men are down in the middle of the ring as the match continues! Korderas checks both men before starting the count. 1………..2………3…………...4…………5………6……….and Hardy gets a shoulder over the chest of MVP for the cover!

AND MVP gets the shoulder up once again! The crowd thought that Hardy had the match won. Hardy gets to his feet and picks up MVP but MVP gets a thumb to the eye of Hardy. MVP then connects with a side slam to Hardy. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the corner. MVP comes at Hardy and then connects with the boot to the face. MVP then picks up Hardy and connects with a chop to the chest of Hardy, in the style of Flair. Hardy is sent to the corner. MVP comes at Hardy, but Hardy moves out of the way. MVP hits the turnbuckle. Hardy goes to the apron and then runs and then jumps to the middle of the top rope and catches MVP with a tornado cutter (modified RKO). The crowd can’t believe the move as Hardy hooks the leg for the cover once more!

AND once more Hardy can’t get the three count as MVP gets the shoulder up. Hardy sees MVP trying to get to his feet and hits him with a seated senton splash into a cover!

AND MVP escapes the pin attempt to a bunch of heat from the crowd. MVP gets to his feet as well as Hardy. MVP goes once again for the football kick, but Hardy ducks out of the way. Hardy then kicks MVP in the stomach as MVP turns around. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate, but is blocked by MVP. MVP then connects with the Show Kick out of nowhere! MVP then gets to his feet and picks up Hardy and connects with a scoop slam instead of going for the cover immediately. MVP then goes to the ropes. MVP comes off of the ropes and goes for the “Ballin†Elbow once again! However this time Hardy moves out of the way as MVP misses this time! The crowd gives out a huge pop as Hardy gets to his feet. Hardy gets to his feet and goes to the outside. Hardy begins to climb the top rope. MVP gets to his feet and goes to the ropes that knocks Hardy off of the buckle and Hardy hits his groin on the turnbuckle on the top rope. MVP gets to the top rope and picks up Hardy and connects with a Superplex from the top rope as the crowd gives a huge pop for the move as both men are once again back down on the canvas as the match continues! MVP slowly begins to move as he makes his way over to Hardy. MVP gets a shoulder over the chest of Hardy for the cover.

AND NO! Hardy gets the shoulder up once more as the crowd can’t believe it. MVP begins to grow frustrated as he thought he had the match won! MVP makes the cover once more!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up once again which receives a huge pop from the audience. MVP is livid now as he begins to attack the left shoulder of Hardy once again with a bunch of right hands to the shoulder. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and is hit with another Samoan Drop. MVP doesn’t make the cover but goes right back to the left shoulder of Hardy with some more right hands. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the corner. MVP comes at Hardy, but Hardy ducks out of the way. MVP leaps to the top rope. Hardy turns around and is hit with a missile dropkick from MVP! MVP once again makes the cover!

AND Hardy again gets the shoulder up and the champ can’t believe it as the match continues! MVP can’t believe it. MVP picks up Hardy and sends him to the ropes. Hardy comes off of the ropes and MVP goes for a clothesline but misses. Hardy comes off of the ropes and goes for a moonsault from off the ropes. MVP catches Hardy, but Hardy counters and then connects with a spinning DDT! Both men are down once again as Hardy gets the shoulder over the chest for the cover.

AND MVP gets the shoulder up once again. Hardy then gets to his feet and goes to the outside. Hardy goes up to the top rope. Hardy does his signature taunt and then goes for the Swanton Bomb but misses! The crowd is shocked as Hardy might have just cost himself the match and his chance at winning the United States Championship! MVP gets the shoulder over the chest of Hardy for the cover once again!

AND Hardy gets the shoulder up and the crowd gives Hardy a huge pop as they thought that the match was over. MVP picks up Hardy and connects with some right hands but Hardy fights back. MVP though gets a thumb to the eye of Hardy and then kicks him in the stomach and goes for the Playmaker once more! MVP connects with it! The fans are stunned once more as both men are down and MVP can’t make the cover yet as the match continues!
The fans are chanting for Hardy to get back into the match. Hardy is still down though as MVP begins to move after a few moments, though the movements are slow. MVP continues to crawl on the canvas until he gets over to Hardy who is still down. MVP finally gets the shoulder over Hardy as Korderas makes the count once more in the match!

AND NO! Hardy gets the shoulder up as the arena is on its feet! MVP can not believe it as he shakes his head in disgust. Hardy is still down as MVP gets to his feet and goes out to the apron. MVP begins to climb to the top rope as the crowd here in Portland, Maine knows what’s coming next from MVP. MVP gets to the top rope and looks at Hardy who is still down on the canvas, before going for the Rising Star (Shooting Star Press). MVP MISSES AS HARDY MOVES OUT OF THE WAY AT THE LAST MOMENT! The crowd is cheering on Hardy like never before in this match as Hardy has the chance to finally win the United States Championship! Hardy slowly gets to his feet and gets ready to go to the outside when MVP slowly gets to the ropes to get to his feet. MVP is up and comes at Hardy, who blocks a right hand to the face! Hardy connects with a right hand to MVP. MVP goes for an Irish Whip, but Hardy reverses it. MVP comes off of the ropes and Hardy connects with a huge lariat. MVP gets up to his feet and Hardy comes at him. MVP goes for an overhead belly to belly suplex. Hardy lands on his feet though this time. MVP turns around and comes at Hardy but Hardy moves out of the way. MVP collides into the turnbuckle. Hardy turns MVP around and connects with the kick to the stomach followed by the Reverse Twist of Fate! The crowd is going wild as they chant Hardy’s name as Hardy goes to the outside and goes to the top rope. Hardy once again does his signature taunt before going for the Swanton Bomb once again! HARDY CONNECTS WITH THE SWANTON BOMB TO MVP! The crowd is chanting for the cover as Hardy hooks the legs of MVP for the cover as the crowd counts in unision!
