Most people point to Sin Cara not going to FCW at the time to help transition as a big reason why he flopped too, dude was literally the biggest star in Mexico at the time. Bryan Danielson said himself that he chose to go to FCW when he signed and that if he didn't, he didnt think he would have been able to adapt to the "WWE style" of TV presentation wrestling as well

And Joe was used FAR better in NXT than he was on the main roster or would have been had he skipped NXT.

I think AJ Styles is one of the few who skipped over NXT, and probably the most successful one to skip over NXT. Some of the others not to hit development really did not do to great.

The only reason AJ succeeded was timing honestly. He came in at the exact right time when a talent like him was needed on the main roster. Also got really lucky with his first Ziggler match, which is apparently what made Vince over the moon about him.

Oh yeah for sure. Like it’s not something that’s going to happen all the time. So NXT is definitely needed. I can maybe think of a few people who could skip NXT, but they are honestly pretty elite talent.

AJ also was subjected to stupid TV storylines in TNA and never complained and learned how to make chicken salad out of chickenshit.

Even those absolutely horrendous angles added to AJ Styles toolkit.

Whole reason the big names like Joe, Nakamura, Roode went to NXT was so they could become familiar with how WWE shoots, commercial timing, etc.

Lee probably won’t be there long. He just needs to gain familiarity with how things work.
