Downtime for Updates (Done)

Sometime today we’ll be updating the server because it has reached the end of its life and we’ll be upgrading to a supposedly faster server. I’m being told the downtime will only be about 30 minutes.

This isn’t the software being updated but the actual server everything is on, so there shouldn’t be anything different.

It’s been at least a decade on the server possibly it’s whole life. I can’t speak for the five years before I came on board but since 2015 at least.

The update to the new server will be upgrading our MySQL to 8 and supposedly that’s gonna be twice as fast. I don’t like to believe the hype until I see it though.

I’d be fine with this. While I still love my roster in the end, I made some big mistake mistakes at the beginning. I’d like to fix.

That being said, I’m looking forward to starting the BTB version shortly!

Interestingly, I was gonna suggest doing period drafts which I would personally would prefer to do like we just drafted in the modern day and then we could also draft in like the early 2000s but either way that sounds fun as hell.

To be fair drafting is the most fun part of these things usually. Especially considering we’ll have no active role in the TEW part of it.

Don’t forget, though on my version, I’ll need your guys’s ideas for your cards once we get started.

I mean there are many ways and reasons to draft, it doesn't necessarily have to be tied to a booking project or TEW, but if this simulation works out and everyone has fun, then it's definitely in the realm of possibility to continue doing them, with or without TEW. Fortunately with TEW there are mods for so many years and eras (off the top I know of great ones set in 1985, 1992, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2010...) that it's always a tool at our disposal.
