At one point, WWE planned on having Dolph Ziggler beat John Morrison for the Intercontinental Championship at Hell in the Cell. Considering Morrison retained the title at last week's pay-per-view, the plan was ultimately nixed. He was also previously scheduled to win the title at the prior month's Breaking Point pay-per-view, but management didn't want Morrison to have the stigma of a one week champion so the match was canceled a few days before the event.

Furthermore, WWE planned on having Ziggler win the title at either Night of Champions or SummerSlam, but Rey Mysterio played hardball and would not agree to drop the title to him at either show. He did, however, agree to drop the title to Morrison before taking off for a 30-day suspension last month.

Beginning today, the SmackDown & ECW crew embarks on a four-day tour of Mexico and all of the Ziggler vs. Mysterio matches were being advertised as Intercontinental title matches.

I bet you he will win it on smackdown and not a ppv. Morrison can lose the title and get pushed even higher on smackdown. Ziggler will get his break he is still young.

I wish Dolph would just win the thing already. Besides The title is only holding Morrison back. There is always talk from current superstars like Jericho that says he is a future main eventer, but he could do it now. Morrison vs Punk could headline wrestlemania in the near future

he didn't really deserve it. Ziggler did not have enough heat to beat someone like Mysterio. they did the right thing when Rey got suspended, and keeping it away from Ziggler, he still needs to improve.

I wouldn't say he doesn't deserve the title.

He is basically getting the Orton treatment from the fans right now. They don't know whether to boo him or cheer him.

I was at Raw back last December, and he was getting friggin cheered. He had debuted like a month or two before that. Its quite rare for a rookie heel to get the "respect" cheers.

Dolph Ziggler career is still early. he will get it atleast within the next 12 Months.

You just can't super push your wrestlers either. Look at Brock lesnar. he was good, but he didn't really sell well until Late2003/2004 when he left.

I wouldn't say he can't catch a break, he's really young and hasn't been on Smackdown all that long and he has already had IC title matches against Rey Mysterio and John Morrison and has just come up short in each of those matches. While I do think he deserves the title I think the more they delay it the better, we will continue to get good matches out of him and when he does finally get the title then we will know he truly deserves, also they are probably testing Dolph to see how he goes, he's probably the best rookie in WWE atm so rushing him to become Champ isn't needed.

Fuck Dolph. I was a huge fan of his when he first debuted on Raw. (I know that gimmick couldn't last forever but I loved it.) But then things all went to shit since he got his push. They've turned him into a generic heel. "He's arrogant!". :nonono: They could push anybody in Dolph's spot, it wouldn't matter, Haas or Knox or someone...although, I would rather see Dolph over Morrison, because he is actually a good wrestler and good on the mic if they would think of something clever for him to say.

They went with someone they know can hold a title, and will give Dolph a little longer to get over some guys, get some good heat going and ultimately have him win the title.
