I do all the time, even when I was a kid during The Attitude Era, my grandmother was not a fan of it at all, she was okay with me watching cartoons and educational programs though. Anything with blood or stitches and stuff like that, she never liked. My grandfather also wasn't a fan of the WWE (which was then WWF) or WCW but he let me watch it after a couple of years. My parents were okay with it as long as I got my homework from school done on Monday or Thursday nights, otherwise I wasn't allowed to watch it. The teachers at school also hated it and didn't understand why it was so popular, it was often banned from recess because the kids at school would do the middle fingers like Stone Cold Steve Austin, saying candy ass like The Rock or the Suck It thing that DX does. Even now people still bash me for watching it, but it's mostly on the Internet. I realized it had something to do with the violence, which now as an adult, I understand why non wrestling fans had a problem with it. But if you look at the product now, that's the complete opposite of what it was when I was a kid, with John Cena being a role model for the kids, you would think people have softened their stance on wrestling but no, it still exists.

My Grandmother wasnt a fan of it.
Whenever I would be at her apartment I would be in the back bedroom watching the shows. She would be like, "Can't u find something else to watch?"
'No, Because I love wrestling, Im a huge fan of WWF/ECW/WWE, and I AM gonna go watch it". I would tell her that everytime she'd say that. She never said anything else more. I am still a fan of any and all wrestling, Including my dad's since he's an Indie. I know it fake. I was highly disappointed when My Mother told me 5 yrs ago that WWE Was Fake. (But that didnt stop me from watching, Although I dnt watch much nowadays) And I was VERY Emotional when Brock ended the Undertaker's streak. My grandma didnt understand why and I told her that taker was a huge legend in the company and for someone to end his streak like that was Heartbreaking and a Total shock.

Nope. I really don't talk about it anywhere but here. I am not even a "fan" in the general sense. I am down to watching 2 PPVs a year and only watch the weekly shows if there is a major rumor going on. I also don't wear any of the merch. I only have CM Punk stuff which is outdated anyways.

I think there is hate from people who think its stupid. Which I 100% understand. If you think about it nearly every wrestling move is stupid af. I think some people hate it cuz its insulting.

Those people need to understand that wrestling fans don't watch because they think its a real sporting contest. They watch it because its entertaining in different ways

Scripted wrestling is more like a play than a sport. I always felt this way. The people who view it as stupid look at it as a "fake sport".

Yep. WWE isn't a sport. Its a tv show that has a sporting premise. I don't know how anyone could hate professional wrestling because its a "fake" sport. Obviously. No one thinks that wrestling is a legit sport in 2018. Apart from kids of course.

When I was young, my dad used to be an ass about it. He once asked me why I watch that "fake shit." I responded, "As opposed to all of those documentaries you watch starring John Wayne?" He never had a response.

I knew it was fake back in 1998. Fake in the sense of it being scripted. Likely part of the reason I stopped watching it. I was 10. lol

I guess that depends on your definition of sport. If a sport has to be competitive, then I'd agree. But there are non competitive sports. A person can run five miles every day of their life and does it only become a sport when they're running against someone? Is rock climbing not a sport? Figure skating is a sport and it is completely more choreographed than wrestling.

Wrestlers put themselves through more physical strain than I would say the majority of people from other sports do. Personally, I consider it a non competitive sport. I can't really say WWE is less of a sport than other wrestling because WWE wrestlers likely work more matches in a year than others. So I personally don't feel it's fair to say it's not a sport simply because it's scripted and not real fighting. It is an arduous physical activity that not anyone can just do.

That is true. I always viewed as a play like I said though. I can see why people consider it a sport in this sense but the outcome is scripted and fixed to who wins which is why it is like a "performance" to me.
