Difference between World Championship & WWE Championship?

Is there a difference if a wrestler was World Champion and WWE champion?

I mean could you see Punk winning the World Championship but not the WWE Championship? I personally think there is a difference, more history in the WWE Championship, more prestigue, more credible wrestlers have won it. So the real main eventers will wear that title, no surprise winners. With the World Championship, some of the more controversial wins have come from it. Batista's numerous number contendership matches, Rey Mysterio win, Khali's win and Taker's vacany.

Do you feel there's a difference on who holds the WWE and World Championship?

No difference.
It changes all the time, but there is never one singular better title. For example. Punk now has the WHC, HHH has the wwe one, so the WWE is more prestigious technically, but the WHC is on the A show, so it all balances out.
If Punk was WWE champ on Ra, and HHH was WHC on SD, then HHH would be making the WHC more prestigious, but again, Punk is on the A show, so it all evns out.
So I don't think one is more prestigious, BUT, I like the WHC better.

I agree with MikeRaw, it just depends on which show the title's on. I remember that the WHC was great in 03-04, with HHH, Benoit, Orton and HBK being there for the title. I like the look of the WHC Title too, the Spinner belt is long overdue for retirement.

Guys like Sting, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, Triple H, Batista, Macho Man, The Giant, HBK, Lex Luger, DDP, Booker T have all held the World title belt. Sure there was David Arquette but that was a Russo decision. I mean Vince McMahon had the WWE title for a day so if u wanna throw Arquette at me there is my defense.

The World title has been around longer that the WWE belt, has been defended on more countries against different countrymen and is not a fuckin spinning belt for christ sakes.

Um, the WWE Title is not a spinner. In case you haven't noticed, the centrepiece hasn't spun since Orton became champ.

It never makes a real difference to me. Do you think people look at the belts and decide which is the more prestigious? No. They are both equal as World Champions.

The world heavyweight title is a seperate title from the NWA one.
It's still my favorite, but I have to correct your mistake.
WWE has said on their site, and in their title history, and on wikipedia, etc, it is not the same belt. It has the same design, but is a different title.

I personally think that the World Title is more prestigious and traditional. I prefer it to the WWE title. However, I see arguements for both sides so I will remain as non-biased as possible.

where in that post did i say anything about the NWA world title. I think nowehre would be the correct answer. If you go back in history the World title belt, "The Big Gold Belt" has been there forever.

How many times has the WWE title belt been changed man. Lets see like 4 times....i mean how can you make a belt custimizable to a wrestler...Smoking skull belt and the spinner belt. That right there takes down the prestige of a belt. A world title belt should be something that can be recognized right away. If you take an old wrestling fan that hasnt been watching lately what belt would he recognize first....the world championship one would be the correct answer.

That is what you said.
Since you reffered to Hogan, Flair, Sting, DDP, Luger, etc, that means the wcw and/or NWA belt (they are the same).
And the point of my post was saying that you were wrong. You said the WHC was more prestigious cause all those guys held it. But the fact is, that was a different belt. That was the NWA/WCW belt all those guys held, now the WHC... They have the same look,but different histories, so all those guys son't make the WHC more prestigious.
But I still like the WHC better, but you got your facts wrong.

Oh, and also, you said the WHC is more recognisable... Maybe to like 50 year olds. But anyone today who isn't a fan would recognise the wwe title (some form of it, spinner or not) more than the nwa belt, or in this case, the WHC. And, let's just say all the guys you named were actually holders of the WHC, that still doesn't make it more prestigious. The wwe one has been held by guys like Austin, Hogan, Hart, Rock, HHH, HBK, Nash, Cena, Bruno Sammartino, and a bunch of other legends. And all those guys had just asmuch, some more, of an impact on wrestling than the NWA holders.

So, just for the record, the wwe title>the nwa title.
But back on topic, ya, half the guys you mentioned for the WHC history, were NWA AND WCW title holders, not WHC, so that doesn't help it's prestige. So again, the WWE title hasmore prestige than the WHC.

In that statement, you said the current world heabyweight title, is more prestigious than the wwe title. Thsat's your opinion, that is fine.
But then you named a bunch of guys like Sting, and Flair, and Macho Man, and others, and said that they were proof the title is more prestigious.
But that's where you are wrong.
See, you were using guys from the old "Big Gold Belt" days to prove your point. but we here are talking about the WHC in wwe, and that is a seperate title. Although they look the same, the lineage and history of the WHC and the belt that guys like Sting, Flair, etc held is different. Two different belts.

So heres my point.
I like the WHC better.
BUT, it's clear the wwe title has more history. It's been around 50+years, whereas, the WHC has onl;y been around for 6. Because guys like Sting, Flair, never held the world heavyweight championship, because it's a different belt.
