What felt weird about it? They sold it perfectly! Everything has to take place on screen to mean something? They brought the Edge & Lita shit to light out of nowhere, and then Matt Hardy turned up out of nowhere and they started going at it again. Just a few weeks ago, JR mentioned that Edge and Matt had a very storied and personal past outside of the ring.

These things happen all the time. It doesn't HAVE to take place on camera for it to be have happened in professional wrestling. Jeff Hardy fell down some steps, or got attacked in the stairwell, and nobody saw that shit, but we believed it, why? Because it was sold on screen later.

Just accept that they gave us this shit, and appreciate what it means to the current feud, and how amazingly it's playing out.

Thing is though, if they go the route that HHH and Steph are actually married then that could change things drastically AFTER this fued is over.

Unless he goes back to the "Saddistic Son-in-Law" thing, it'll be harder for HHH to be against the McMahons now. They would most likely have to take Steph off tv for awhile and then make McMahon do something to HHH for that to go again.

On top of that, how's it going to be if HHH gets drafted back to Raw? If that happens you then have a wrestler married to the GM on both main brands. They have to plan something big to get away with all this.

As Ive said before. This is all going to smoothly. I think there is a big Twist/swerve coming. Don't know what exactly but i just get this feeling that come Mania there will be a huge shift or shock in store. Maybe Vince takes Legacy's side i don't know. But something is going to happen. And it will lead to a HHH heel turn. Well thats what i'm hoping for anyway.

As soon as H did the JR interview and said "his wife", I said he's breaking kayfabe. According to storylines (not really but) he divorced her almost five years ago and to fans Steph is having babies and H is just chillin fighting for the title. Whenever they're in the same picture (McMahon's lost son angle) they would flirt with each other, basically joking around with the actual fact that they're married.

But I really could care less lol. This gives the storyline more meat to work with and more anticipation for the match itself. It's for the storyline which makes sense, why would HHH randomly come out when Shane and Steph got attacked? Why would he care about Vince, he shoved his face in Show's ass like three years ago. Wrestling does this all the time, just gotta wait for fans to forget.

kayfabe

Hasn't WWE blurred the lines of reality and wrestling, i.e. kayfabe, a long time ago to the point that kayfabe does not exist anymore?

You have Triple H going on the Howard Stern show breaking down story lines, you have heels and faces, not that true heels or faces really exist anymore, openly hanging out together in bars and restaurants.

Now, more than ever, professional wrestling is the male equivalent of soap operas, and if you just appreciate it for what it is and don't worry about kayfabe, because there really is no such thing anymore, you will be fine.

Although, I guess that, ironically, the difference with soap operas and wrestling is that the soap opera characters are often not like the people who play them, where as wrestling characters are often close to their real life personalities these days, albeit exaggerated versions.

I mean, how different is Ric Flair on TV and Ric Flair in real life? Right now, I guess the most obvious difference would be Chris Jericho on the show and him in real life.

You've also got to remember, some people have started watching recently i.e. the past couple of years and would not be aware of their history. It's not the same people watching every year, people turn off; people turn on.

Also in the DX days when DX and the McMahons were feuding, there was that one episode with just Michaels hosting because Hunter was going to be a dad as Steph was in the hospital with her father and brother as Michaels said.

History isn't everything.

He broke Kayfabe. There is no doubting that. Weather or not it means a thing, is another question.

In short, no. He broke kayfabe, but 90% of wrestling fans know they are still together. They even report about them together on WWE.com. Basically everyone knows. I am willing to bet that it is only smarks who care that he broke kayfabe, tbh.
