Fans have been wondering what exactly WWE NXT will be since Vince McMahon announced that ECW would end its run on Syfy and be replaced by the "next evolution" of WWE.

The word going around is that the NXT concept will be portrayed as a "reality" based series featuring new wrestlers who viewers will be able to follow inside and outside of the ring. Fans will be able to follow wrestlers from day one and get their personal insight, their background and goals, creating a different sense of deeper insight, etc.

As it stands now, the concept appears similar to WWE's former Tough Enough series with talent not only feuding with each other, but for the opportunity to become the "next" big WWE Superstar and move onto RAW or SmackDown!.

WWE has been pitching different concepts for the series and formalizing plans since the fall, but all signs to point to this concept being the nucleus of NXT.

As of right now, WWE has not decided what to do with the ECW Title. The belt may continue on as some are lobbying to keep the title, but in the end this will be Vince McMahon's decision. Some feel that they should keep the belt so that they can use the title for the undercards of secondary PPVs as an attraction.

I liked Tough Enough so this might be interesting, part of me feels though they're gonna make it like Big Brother or something though. Now that I think about it sounds like they're trying to do an Ultimate Fighter...

Is Danielson going to be the face of the brand? A guy who some consider the best technical wrestler in the world will be the posterboy for some goofy reality wrestling TV show on Sci-Fi? GREAT!

It really wouldn't surprise me if they did and make him the very first "winner". Hell it's no secret HHH doesn't care to much for him so they'd probably send him there as a slight slap to the face of ROH saying wrestlers from there don't measure up to guys the WWE trains.

This sounds like a WWE version of Ultimate Fighter, not a bad idea overall, but I don't think it'll garner any big ratings beyond the debut show

My guess is this lasts 3 weeks before they pull the plug

They should dig up some old ECW alumni and run an angle on how Vince burned the ECW ideals to the ground and pissed on the ashes, then have them steal the ECW strap and routinely show up and turn every match they have into an "extreme rules" match to the disgust of Vince until he has no other option but to have an "extreme" division. Now we'd have a hardcore title back and it'd freshen up the lame formulas on Raw and SD!'s midcards.

Who said anything about Danielson?

Sorry I read a different report, but it still relates to the topic...

WWE NXT debuts on February 23rd and the company is promoting the new show as innovative and even revolutionary. There has been talk that WWE NXT will feature young superstars from WWE's developmental system such as Bryan Danielson and Kaval (formerly Low Ki) in a show that's a hybrid of pro wrestling and reality TV.

Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) sent out a press release today discussing its involvement in NXT show, writing:

"With speculation rife regarding the imminent debut of WWE’s new television show ‘WWE-NXT,’ all FCW Superstars are sure to be at their best as they attempt to impress top brass in WWE and secure spots on the new show’s roster. And with Edge watching over the evening’s proceedings, the stakes have never been higher."

WWE superstar Edge will be appearing at Friday night's FCW show in Melbourne, Florida and was quoted in the press release talking about Florida Championship Wrestling and WWE NXT:

"In a couple of years, the majority of the Superstars you see on the show this Friday will have been drafted up to Raw or Smackdown
, so I suppose it is also a great opportunity for me to get the scoop on who I’m going to be facing down the line."

It's no secret HHH doesn't care about him? Where the hell did he say that? In generic #232434 random news story bashing HHH?

Anyways, this could be cool if they did it right. I have a feeling it'd turn out pretty lame, it would highly depend on the talent to make it interesting. Only reason Tough Enough was so cool was you had WWF stars going there like Triple H, Foley, Undertaker to fuck with em and put em through hell.

Wtf is this blasphemy? That is too abstract for a usual WWE storyline, what you proposed would actually involve work and innovative creative writing in WWE storylines! You know the WWE can't have that unless it involves one of the usual top/main 5 guys.

Interesting concept to say the least

Will it succeed? Doubt it :smh

This is probably how WWE is going to have the casual fans savor and digest Danielson. Better than him being a "who is this guy?" new superstar. Or putting in the work to actually buid the guy. WWE is so lazy I swear :smh

This is the fastest article to find, but I remember reading at least two others with other remarks from Trips about Danielson. I will rephrase what I said though and say seems Trips just doesn't see anything big in Danielson.

For those of you who are not aware who Bryan Danielson is, he is a member of ROH, and currently gets the title "Best of the World". Even though it's not an official title or anything, it does give the American Dragon prestige in the business. However, some fans and wrestling insiders believe you cannot give a man that title if he has never been in a big federation. Someone from the biggest federation around, WWE, tears down on Danielson. It is not said who is tearing him down like that, since he wants to remain anonymous, but it appears to be going about a main event headliner.

"Best in the world? Give me a break, what has he done? It takes more than coming up with some fancy submission holds to earn that kind of praise. Until he makes it to the big leagues, calling him the best in the world would be an absolute joke."

This seem like hard words, but indeed some feel that there is some truth in this critique. Daniels can get the hardcore wrestling fans of the independant circuit behind him with his innovative offense, but his inability to actually work the moves may hold him back. Some believe this lack of major star power is indeed legitimate, while the Danielson fans say that all commentary on him is just superficial. (They might be right on the superificial thing when people say he doesn't have the looks or size to make it big)

Now, of course everybody is asking who this headliner is that asked to remain anonymous in this article? Many believe that it could be Triple H, seeing how he already insinuated that Danielson is overhyped, in another quote in the Ottowa Sun around August:

"If you go into the internet, there is always some guy saying 'this guy is the best wrestler in the world'... But it's not about what they like, it's what the masses like. These guys they're talking about are wrestling in front of 50 people, not 20,000. And that's because the masses don't want to see them."

Oh, I remember that. He's 100% right if he actually said that anyways. It doesn't mean he doesn't care for him, Danielson just hasn't done shit yet to give a reason to care. But if Danielson could actually get the crowd interested and work them (which is what it's all about), I don't think anyone could deny his ability. I'm sure Danielson will be able to, Low Ki on the other hand has always been boring and dull as fuck.

This sounds like a great idea. Hopefully it can draw higher ratings than ECW did this year. Sounds like something I might actually anticipate on Tuesdays for.
