The X-Division takes center stage (bout fucking time) for the night, and the level of nonstop action gets cranked up to "total"!
Not much that needs to be set up here, but if you need some catching up -
Shortly before this PPV, Austin Aries became the longest running X-Division Champion in history and asked Hulk Hogan for a shot at Bobby Roode's TNA World Title. As Hogan did not want wrestlers holding multiple titles, he agreed to give Aries his shot, but only if he relinquished his X-Division Championship. Aries agreed to the terms, but added his own stipulation that going forward, every X-Division Champion would have the opportunity to trade in the title for a World Championship match at this PPV each year. For Bobby Roode's part, he is also in the midst of a record-setting reign as TNA World Champion, having beat James Storm for the title over 200 days prior and keeping a stranglehold on the belt since then.
So since Aries has let go of his prized X-Division Championship, we will also have a one-night tournament with 8 competitors to determine the new champion, culminating in a four-way Ultimate X match to crown a champion. We also have another chapter in the all-time great Daniels-Styles saga being written in a Last Man Standing match, and Kurt Angle facing Samoa Joe in a Bound For Glory Series match on the night!
