On Twitter, Former WCW Wrestler Diamond Dalls Page announced that he may be hosting WCW's upcoming Nitro DVD set. He wrote the following:

"Just got the Word... Looks like I may be hosting the Best of Nitro coming out on WWE dvds...Sounds like a Great time... I'll keep you posted"

I would love for this to be true. DDP was one of my favourites from WCW and he would be awesome at hosting this DVD. It is good that WWE are actually looking to get a major WCW star to host the DVD to make it a bit more authentic. I actually can't think of a better candidate to host this DVD since DDP would bring so much charisma and energy to the DVD.

I watched a stupid reality show with some fat game show hostess, because I seen DDP was her personal trainer. I would watch anything with DDP in it. So a wrestling related show is a definite buy for me.

Exactly the guy makes everything entertaining and worth watching. Plus the DVD itself should be awesome no matter who hosts it. Since they are just going with a best of Nitro rather than breaking it up in seasons it should be an incredible DVD filled with so much great footage. DDP hosting just makes it that much better.

If it's the best of Nitro the entire run, it should be good. If it's just the first year........not so much. I had the first two years on tape, and they were shit. Dungeon of Doom would have to be explained and apologised for lolz. Aside from Brian Pillman and the Horsemen, Benoit and Guerrero were the only things worth watching. Luchadores and Japanese wrestlers didn't show up until 96.

Originally they were going to do a best of Season 1 and 2 of Nitro but now it is meant to simply be the Best of Nitro the entire run which is much better.

Think if they ever were to do a worst of, seasons 1-2 and all of 2000 would be on there.

Yeah Page is a favourite of my also. And I see him as one of the reasons that company was once great, and is just a fantastic talker.

Thing is it might be nice to have them released in seasons, just because that if they just go for a one off best of series, then a lot of good stuff might get left off. I will wait and see the content before I buy this as I have a lot of complete episodes on tape, and may well collect them again at some point anyway. Now if they featured a documentary on Nitro with interviews from all the main players that might be a different story.

What I would like to see is WWE release WCW PPV's on DVD for the first time, now that would be something.

It has been confirmed:

pwinsider said:
DDP wrote on his twitter:

"IT's Official! I will Host "The BEST OF NITRO"! This a Great thing for the WCW/NWO/WWE fans! Plus a Great way for DDP to return to the WWE!"
"I'm already getting hit with Questions! Ha! This "Best of Nitro" is a DVD box collection that will include the years 95/96, 97/98 & 99/2001"

This is going to be a great DVD. I would mark out big time if DDP was a surprise entrant in the Rumble in three days time. That would be an incredible moment.

It is surprising that WWE haven't released more WCW themed DVD's considering they have owned the entire video library for a decade now. I can see WWE releasing box set's, like they did with the Rumble and Summerslam, for some of the bigger WCW PPV's. It would be a good seller since they had some great quality PPV's in the mid nineties and there is still a market for those products.

They need a Clash of the Champions box set. I know there are like 35 of them but they could do two on a disc they weren't that long. The best DVDs are usually pretty solid and DDP is great so this is a must buy.

Yeah I have just recently started collecting the Clash events I am up to about Five, don't know when the cut off point will be, maybe when I get up to about 98 time, and I might miss out some of the mid-ninties ones also. But it would be nice if WWE released a two disc best of I agree.
