And get sued by all the theaters losing out on their cut?

Aren't you supposed to be in finance?
What are you talking about? How can the theaters sue them? It’s up to the studio to release the movie

Theaters need to pay licensing fees in order to air publicly.

And they negotiate that in pre-production, which means a production this far done, would mean they just fucked every theater who have screening rights.

You don’t know if the theaters ever had screening rights. The movie was supposed to be HBO Max exclusive from the start.

Well, I assumed it was a theatrical release.

Tax write-down probably. I can't say I'm in tears about it. One less adaptation in which they swap a redhead.

Well it’s official now

"The decision to not release Batgirl reflects our leadership's strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max," said a Warner Bros.spokesperson in a statement. "Leslie Grace is an incredibly talented actor and this decision is not a reflection of her performance. We are incredibly grateful to the filmmakers of Batgirland Scoob! Holiday Haunt and their respective casts and we hope to collaborate with everyone again in the near future."

DCEU is beyond broke. They need to use The Flash to do a complete reboot. Which hopefully is what they're doing. Written right you can keep Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Pattinson kinda screws the deal the most but you could argue it's just batman outside DCEU.

They got greedy they saw Marvel rushed everything to get to justice league, didn't have contracts lined up correctly (Affleck) they somehow screwed the pooch with (Cavil).

Sidenote I'd love a Batman Beyond Live action.

DC put all their eggs in the Flash basket, and are now going back to square one because Ezra Miller's weirdo antics went to it's inevitable conclusion of being a full on violent creep.

It's fine to put those eggs in that basket. If they do flashpoint they can reuse it to recast him too.

Ezra Miller is not the selling point of Flash. They literally could just release the movie as is and fucking recast the character for the next movie. It’s literally not that big of a deal. Idk why everything has to be such a big thing. Marvel recast Hulk replacing Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo. They replaced Terence Howard with Don Cheadle. It didn’t effect the movie’s performance at all. This whole “OH WE CANT RELEASE THE FLASH BECAUSE OF EZRA MILLER” is such a dumb argument.

And now the fact that you’re literally shelving a finished movie is so ludicrous. Like yeah… not letting the fans see it is really the better option. Even if Batgirl was a bad movie, it wouldn’t ruin anything for DC. They came back from Justice League. I doubt that Batgirl is gonna be the nail in the coffin.
