PRESENTS
John-Constantine-Hellblazer-logo-symbol.jpg

CONSTANTINE: HELLBLAZER
Coming off of the back of Chapter Three's Zatanna film which was met with widely positive reviews. We would then follow up with a highly anticipated second entry to this Justice League Dark series as we followed with a much anticipated film which was of course our John Constantine (Dan Stevens) solo film. This film of course had a lot of anticipation as it was revealed to be shot in a very different format from the others. Described in many ways to be reminiscent of some Tarantino films with chapters or the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. This film would very much tell the story of John Constantine over many chapters of his life and in order to tell you how he got to this very moment we would begin with Act I: The Spark and the Flame. This act would serve as an origin for John Constantine and his tragic childhood. As we'd learn that from the time of his conception his father Thomas Constantine (Mark Rylance) had never wanted another child. With his mother passing due to complications from childbirth, this would very much leave John at the mercy of his father. Shown to be a loathing individual who almost as if he was looking to truly prove his point would constantly express his hatred and disgust for his son as he blamed John for his mother's passing. A truly detestable figure whose behavior only worsened when alcohol was involved. The only bright spark in Constantine's life was his older sister Cheryl (Sophie Rundle). A kind and caring individual Cheryl very much acted as a mother figure to John and showed him a source of love he had not known before.

Despite her love for her father even with all of his flaws, Cheryl acknowledged that John needed a chance in life and in order to have that chance he needed to be away from his abusive father. This is why Cheryl would take John to live with her which was met with no dispute from Thomas. While John was away from his father, he would begin to develop some interest in the supernatural and the occult. At the same time we'd see on one evening Thomas Constantine on his journey back from the pub would encounter a demonic presence known as the Family Man. A demonic killer, the Family Man would very much seem to have taken an interest in the Constantine family as he viciously murdered Thomas Constantine. Despite his abusive nature and cruelty, the death of Thomas Constantine would rock both John and his sister as we'd see a bit of a wall built by John to the rest of the world. At the same time Constantine would continue to delve into the world of the dark arts and would meet a young man who had come from the school of hard knocks like himself in Chas Chandler (Toby Kebbell). This would very much serve as the origin story for one of Constantine's longest and most strongest relationships in Chas. At the same time we'd also be introduced to Adam Day (David O'Hara).

A local priest who had long been a father figure, friend and confident to Cheryl. Adam Day would also offer that same kindness and friendship to John as he urged him to stop his pursuit of the occult. Around this time however John would make two other connections as he also pursued a love of music. This love was encouraged by Adam Day and Cheryl who even gave John a guitar as he formed a metal band known as Mucus Membrane. He would be joined by a fellow budding rockstar Gary Lester (Rafe Spall). This film would not hide it's dark subject matter as we would see Gary Lester heavy into drug use. On top of Gary would be their singer Veronica Delacroix (Katherine Kelly). An aggressive and ambitious woman who like John had an interest in the occult. We would soon see Veronica and John begin a relationship as they further delved into the occult. As we'd learn however while Constantine's interest was more a curiosity at this point, Veronica had darker designs and beliefs. This was shown in the fact that she had in fact made a dark deal. This deal would see Veronica need to sacrifice other souls in order to save her own. As we'd learn this wouldn't be the first band which Veronica had travelled with and she'd use the gigs as an excuse to find victims to sacrifice before she'd vanish.

Now looking to continue this trend while secretly hoping that Constantine would potentially save her or find a means to break her deal. The error Veronica made was she began to target Chas as her next potential sacrifice. As John would begin to realize the severity of Veronica's actions and the threats she posed. John would confront her onstage and save Chas' life and his soul. In turn we'd find that Veronica had violated her contract and would see Veronica slowly be dragged to hell. Seeing his friend Chas wounded and weakened, Constantine would cast a quick spell on his friend in order to keep him alive. Recognizing that Veronica had in fact framed him for her wave of occult crimes, John Constantine would turn to Father Adam Day for help. Proving himself to be a true friend and ally to John Constantine, it would be Father Adam Day who helped John Constantine plan an escape from London and provided him with safe passage as we ended chapter one of this story. We would then get a time jump as we entered act two which was entitled the Best Version of you.

This chapter would very much begin with a montage showing John Constantine over the course of a few years going from a boy in his late teens to a conman in his early twenties. By this point Constantine was a wanted fugitive and someone on the police radars. While on the outside Constantine may have been known for his cynicism, deadpan wit, ruthless cunning, and constant chain smoking. We'd see that John was in fact haunted by his encounter with Veronica and what she had done. Seemingly lost following his encounters it would be one night that John met a travelling magician known as Nick Necro (Pip Torrens). As the pair would travel together across New York, Constantine would be shown to be living the highlife on the road with drink, drugs and many other proclivities. Necro in many ways appeared as a father figure to John which Thomas never was. He was also shown to have some form of care of John despite leading him down this illicit path. During his time with Necro, John would meet Necro's fashion designer Katie Farmin (Michelle Keegan) with whom he formed a close friendship while also encountering Margaret Ames (Charlie Murphy). The pair would begin to date with Margaret drawn to John's bad boy ways.

Things however would change one night when Constantine met Blythe (Sophie Turner). A banished demon who was wandering the earth, Blythe would warn Constantine of the dangers Necro posed. As we'd learn from Blythe Necro's lifestyle is through the damnation of others and sending them to hell but now Necro has gone too far and it's led to Blythe turning to someone who can help him. Shaken by this news but not willing to heed it, Constantine would visit Katie and discuss this encounter. As the pair had formed a close bond it would be here that Katie began to speak her truth for the first time. Revealing that she herself had in fact once made a deal, Katie said that while she doesn't want to face her demons. At the same time she cannot standby and let Necro carry out his next plot. This plot would involve a young girl by the name of Astra Logue (Abigail Lawrie) who Necro sought to sacrifice. Recognizing Necro's sins now, John would agree to work with Blythe to stop Necro from carrying out this ritual. In the process Constantine would distance himself and remove himself from Margaret's life as he looked to do the right thing. With Katie's advice John would manage to find Necro and be met by Samuel Harris/Buer (Kevin Rahm).

A powerful demon who had been tasked to make this deal with Necro to accumulate souls. We'd soon learn in this reunion that Blythe in fact had worked with Buer. Despite being shaken by this revelation, Constantine would begin to perform an exorcism on Buer. As Buer would begin to be banished to hell we would see Nick Necro begin to pulled into the pit. While tragically we'd see Katie Fermin pulled into hell as per violating her own deal. We'd see Blythe wound Buer weakening him and allowing him to be pulled into this portal to hell. Sadly in this chaos, Necro in a last attempt to save himself would grab hold of Astra and in the process he would pull her to hell with him. Distraught at damning Astra and seeing Katie fall, Constantine would confront Blythe and accuse her of using him. With a smirk Blythe would inform Constantine that like him with Necro se was sworn to service and blinded by loyalty. Yet now thanks to Constantine she is free just like he is and now they can do anything they want. As Blythe would begin to vanish she'd let Constantine know she see him again sometime to wrap up this second act. This would then bring us to the third act of this film which was entitled Blight!

Haunted by the loss of Astra, this chapter would focus on Constantine choosing to isolate himself. Living just outside a commune, Constantine would begin to find something he hadn't had in a very long time. Peace and acceptance, we'd see slowly John begin to overcome his demons as he befriended a mother Marj (Sharon Horgan) and her daughter Mercury (Aisling Franciosi). As he began to find family and people to care for, Constantine would for the first time truly begin to let his walls down. This would be until an old friend by the name of Ritchie Simpson (Mackenzie Crook). A former friend of Constantine's from his time in Mucus Membrane, Ritchie would come to Constantine in need of help as John's former friend Gary has vanished. As Ritchie would explain to John, because of the issues with Veronica and their whole experience Gary had started practicing some magic and occult practices of his own in an effort to get clean. However he'd since gone missing, despite Constantine's misgivings he would agree to help find his friend even if that meant stepping back into the dark world. This would lead to John reaching out to Margaret who was now a police officer, despite some tension with how Constantine left things. Margaret would agree to help John.

As she looked into Gary Lester, Margaret would discover Gary's checkered past. Noted for several counts of smuggling and various crimes, Margaret would provide John with a lead. This would lead to John returning to the states and this time making his way to Manhattan and to a club known as The Midnight Hour. Here Constantine would first cross paths with the notorious crime lord known as Papa Midnite (Lakeith Stanfield). Papa Midnite along with leading his own gang, was a nightclub owner of one of Manhattan's most prolific clubs. A curator and collector of many artifacts, the self proclaimed voodoo king would very much take an interest in artifacts of the supernatural and occult. Sitting down with John Constantine, Midnite would reveal that he was fully aware of John Constantine and his defeat of Nick Necro and Veronica. Both of whom he had knowledge of and encountered. Seemingly looking to make a deal with John or an arrangement, Midnite would reveal that Lester did do some work for him and would occasionally provide Midnite with a new piece for his collection. While keeping details to a minimum, Midnite would reveal that usually these pieces were stolen and that Lester had remarked he and a friend had found something big for him. As Constantine left, Papa Midnite made it clear that while this was free he is still owed by Lester and his friend. Going back to Margaret, Constantine would look to find out who Gary Lester was associated with and it would be here that Constantine learned Ritchie Simpson was involved.

Confronting Richie, John would learn that Richie was dying and riddled with cancer. Looking for something to save himself and prolong his life, Ritchie had in fact made a deal. This deal would be for him and Gary to collect an artifact which contained the demon known as Mnemoth. A vicious, parasitic hunger demon, Ritchie would reveal that things had gone wrong and managed to provide Constantine with a location for Gary. On arrival in what was awful scene, Constantine would find his friend suffering and in pain having been afflicted with the Hunger Demon. Recognizing the danger of the demon, Constantine would make a hard choice and bind the demon to Gary. This would effectively kill both Gary and Mnemoth but also save the world from the wrath of the Hunger Demon. Enraged by having to make such a tough and hard decision, John Constantine would return to Ritchie's home, here he would find Ritchie dead but in the process of uploading his brain to technology. As his psyche was in the computer and beginning John to let him be, Constantine said that today was a day where he had to say goodbye to a close friend because of Ritchie. With that Constantine would unplug the connection causing Ritchie to shut down. As he left however Constantine would be confronted by Midnite. A livid Midnite would reveal he wanted that artifact that Gary and Ritchie were after but at the same time he didn't know of Mnemoth. While angry about his artifact being destroyed Midnite was willing to chalk this as a wash based on Mnemoth. However he would warn Constantine to close out this chapter that the next time they meet, he won't be so amicable.

This would bring us to the fourth part of The Constantine film which was entitled Poisoned Truth. Troubled by his encounter with Ritchie and the death of Gary Lester. John was shown to be heavily removed and regressing into bad habits. Then as if by fortune or by luck he would be reached out to by Father Adam Day. Sadly however this would not be the entire fond reunion he expected as Adam Day informed John that his sister Cheryl had been found and was believed to have been murdered. Despite his disconnect from his home life John would begin to return home to London despite knowing several warrants were out for his arrest. On his return Adam Day would introduce John to Cheryl's grieving husband Tony Masters (Tobias Menzies). Very much a distraught mess, it would be in this first conversation with Tony that John was first informed that the pair had a daughter who Tony had sent to live with his parents for the moment. At first John would seem to have found someone to befriend and share his grief with. However as we'd find in a bar later that evening John would begin to notice some more troublesome behavior from the belligerent Tony who didn't seem as grieved as he did earlier. Leaving the bar John would be introduced by a woman known as Elle (Lily James). Real name Chantinelle, Elle would be a fallen angel turned succubus known as Chantinelle.

While not someone normally to do good, Chantinelle revealed like many others there is a darkness around Constantine which she is finding alluring and pulling her towards him. Warning him that there are many creatures watching him from above and below, Elle says that not every being will be as interested or curious in Constantine. This wouldn't be Constantine's only encounter either as not long after he would be surprised by the appearance of Margaret Ames. Now working as a detective as opposed to a police officer, Margaret Ames would warn Constantine that the police was now all the more suspicious of him. This is because in startling news, Father Adam Day has also been found dead. With deaths racking up around him and more casualties with connections to him. Police chief Frank Truro (Hugh Bonneville) was now fully committed to the fact that there was a serial killer and his chief suspect was Constantine. While she knew Constantine was far from a saint, Margaret knew that he was not a serial killer. Following this we would see Margaret bring Constantine in for questioning with Truro. Despite Constantine going willingly and expressing his sadness and guilt at their deaths, Truro was convinced that he had his man. At the same time we'd see Elle and Blythe shockingly connect as they met with Papa Midnite. As the trio spoke it would be Midnite who used the name the Family Man.

Following some intense questioning where Constantine would profess his innocence. It seemed that nothing he said would truly appease or win over Truro. It would only be when Margaret pointed out the lack of true evidence and the fact that someone was willing to post his bail that for now Truro would let Constantine go. However it was clear that Truro very much saw this case as his white whale and would do anything in his power to bring down Constantine once and for all. Surprisingly as we'd find Constantine's bail had been paid for by Tony who brought Constantine back to his home. Revealing that he didn't believe Constantine was the killer we'd soon learn that Tony while a highly abusive and disreputable individual on his best day had in fact been possessed by a demon known as the Family Man. Revealed to have been behind the deaths of Cheryl, Adam Day and shockingly the death of Thomas Constantine. The Family Man would taunt John as he said he was all on his own and powerless. In response to this, the Family Man would attack John Constantine and a vicious fight would break out. Despite the demon overpowering him Constantine would manage to use his smarts to defeat and kill Tony and the demon possessing him. As Tony bled out, Constantine would press him for any information he was aware of following his time with the Family Man and it would be here that John heart the name of Nergal!

This would bring an end to our fourth chapter and kick off the fifth act which was entitled Rise and Fall. Seemingly sick of all the loss he had suffered John Constantine in an attempt to clear his own head and give him time to research the name of Nergal. While in the Asylum, Constantine would frequently be visited by an angered Frank Truro. Fully believing Constantine to be guilty of multiple counts of murder, Frank Truro fully believed he had his man and even at the cost of his own career, he would bring Constantine to justice. Along with Truro's regular visits, John would also find himself with a new ally in Sister Anne Marie (Liz Hurley). A nun who worked closely with father Adam Day and despite hearing the many stories an rumors of Constantine, she truly had faith in Adam Day and his verdict. Believing Constantine to truly be on the side of good, Anne would very much act as a confidant to Constantine as he told her his story. At the same time in the asylum, Constantine would begin to attract the attention of a mysterious woman called Alice Winter (Victoria Pendretti). Despite keeping a distance and not acknowledging Constantine, Winter seemed to be keeping a watch on him and it would eventually be Constantine who confronted her.

Surprisingly Constantine having grown up and become more aware of the occult every day. He would be aware of Winter's truest identity as he recognized her as the supernatural being known as the Nightmare Nurse. Asking why she was following him, the Nightmare Nurse would reveal she is often not one to meddle but there is a darkness around Constantine which has piqued a lot of interest. Calling herself a protector of sorts, Nightmare Nurse reveals that while she has been able to mask the Asylum to those outside for a limited period of time, she can sense a threat inside the asylum and is looking out for John as best she can. Asked why she is helping him, Nightmare Nurse would reveal that while there are those committed to bringing him down, there are also those who want him to succeed. Encouraging John to continue to look into Nergal, Nightmare Nurse would warn him that there was only a limited period of time she could keep him hidden like this. It wouldn't be long either for the threat to be revealed as we'd be introduced to Georgina Snow (Shaloom Brune Franklin). Unable to contain her rage and loathing for John Constantine, Georgina would confront him and explain just why she had come for him.

Revealing that she had grown up with and was the long time lover of Veronica. Georgina had personally began studying magic in order to not only bring back the woman she loved but also to avenge her death with the individual who damned her soul for eternity. Revealing that like Veronica, she had also made a deal of her own to bring her to this occasion and provide her the tools to defeat Constantine, what Georgina would also reveal was that this would come down to a simple transaction for her also. If she can kill John Constantine, then she can have her beloved back. Despite Constantine's warnings of deals with demons, Georgina would attack John Constantine with a series of dark spells before Constantine would easily bring a stop to her attacks with a spell of her own. With her magic pulled away and no means to honor her deal to capture John Constantine, we would see a terrified Georgina dragged to hell following her failure. It would be here we would see our first glimpse of the demonic Nergal (Joaquin Phoenix) who was shown to be watching the whole proceedings. With Georgina stopped, Nightmare Nurse would remove her veil on the asylum as Constantine found Blythe and Elle waiting for him. Blythe would tell Constantine that this was bigger than just him and it was time he realized he would need help. As Constantine nodded his head, the closing part of this chapter would see Frank Truro angrily storm out of his office with news of Constantine being discharged as he swore to handle matters himself.

With act five coming to an end, we'd then begin act six which was titled Distorted Illusions. In a stark contrast from the rest of the acts, John Constantine would wake up in a vastly different world. Here both his father Thomas and mother Mary Anne (Kathryn Hunter) would still be alive and be a loving pair of parents to John and his sister Cheryl. Further surprising would be in this act that Cheryl would be happily married to Tony Masters who was shown to be a loving husband to his wife. Adding further intrigue to this chapter would be the introduction of Maureen Constantine (Michelle Dockery) who was John's wife with whom he had children. Despite this seemingly tranquil and happy life things didn't seem right to Constantine who couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about this life. As we'd quickly learn in a scene between Elle, Blythe and Nightmare Nurse that Constantine had vanished and the only way none of them could find him would be if he was off world. As Constantine continued to remain unsettled by this world, finally he'd be introduced to Stanley Manor (Rege Jean Page). A wealthy industrialist who had found that all the power, influence and money in the world couldn't save him from time. Stanley Manor had found a way to create his own world one in which he is all powerful and now he had brought in John Constantine and was offering him the life he truly deserved.

While Constantine may have found this offer compelling, we would be introduced to a new character in the franchise. This would be a psychic named Zed (Thandie Newton) who had found ways of seeing Stanley Manor and his world. Haunted by these visions and of Constantine. It would be Zed who reached out to Papa Midnite and was put in contact with Blythe and the others. With her ability to see into this world, Zed would be able to see the darkness surrounding Stanley Manor and those who he brought into his world for their slice of heaven. Thanks to a spell by Midnite, Elle and Blythe were able to appear before Constantine in this world and warn him of Manor before Stanley in a display of his power would cast them out. Decreeing proudly that he could make the impossible possible, Manor would talk to Constantine as a peer and say he had heard of Constantine's power and capability. Calling this an opportunity to build a new world, one which was free of curses and deals. Stanley spoke of becoming a new god as he revealed like others he had made a deal with Nergal. Yet he had founded and formed his own world in an attempt to break those chains and with Constantine's help, they could make this reality the new reality.

Countering Manor that there was a time when he would have readily accepted an escape or a dream. Constantine says now he wouldn't change what has happened because he knows it has made him the person he is and shaped him to be the man to stop Nergal. So he will not hide in another dimension and be at the bidding of another devil. Despite Manor's attempts to blind Constantine with visions of his loving family and threats of turning this into a personal hell. Constantine would use his gifts to escape the dimension where he'd rejoin Blythe, Elle, Nightmare Nurse and Zed. It would be here that John Constantine would finally agree to work with the group and stop Nergal once and for all. Meanwhile to wrap up the fifth act once and for all, we'd see Nergal appear before a trembling Stanley Manor. Despite mockingly being impressed with the world Nergal made it clear that Manor had failed him like all the others and worse he'd tried to back out of his deal. This is why his consequences would be a little more specific and before his very eyes, the world Stanley had created would become his own personal hell. As act six wrapped up, we would then commence Act Seven which would gradually bring us more into the present day and was entitled Death and Cigarettes.

This would open with Margaret Ames contacting John Constantine and warning him that Truro was after him. On top of this she would give him a tip of a series of mysterious deaths. As Constantine began to revisit his old haunts and see flashes of his past. He would be confronted by a livid Chas Chandler and a fight would break out between the pair. During this fight we'd learn that Chas as per Constantine's spell which he cast on him would constantly be brought back to life following his death. This meant constant pain from the resurrection process. This would lead to John introducing Chas to the Nightmare Nurse who accessed him and called what he had a limited immortality. Nightmare Nurse had also taken an interest in the spate of killings and would recognize these deaths as souls being drained from bodies. As the trio looked over the latest series of bodies, John would be stunned to see Maureen in the real world and not Stanley Manor's world as she was in fact a nurse at the hospital. Reeling from this vision Constantine would leave the hospital unaware he was being watched by Frank Truro. Reuniting with Zed, Constantine would learn these killings were the work of a sorcerer and in turn he would be forced to return to Papa Midnite's club despite Midnite's earlier warnings.

Despite their earlier bad blood, Papa Midnite would agree to help Constantine as he made it clear this would mean that in turn John Constantine would owe him a favor. On hearing the news of souls being drained, Midnite remarks that normally he'd believe it to be the work of their mutual friend Elle. However he knows this is not the case. Believes this to be the work of a sorcerer by the name of Felix Faust (Oded Fehr). This would very much serve as our introduction to the character of Faust. Believed to be a centuries old sorcerer who for centuries was imprisoned, Faust had recently been freed from his prison and is seeking to regain his strength by feeding off of the souls of others. Warning John that all Faust would need is to feed off of someone like John's friend Chas and he would be more powerful than they could deal with. In secret as Constantine had this meeting with Midnite, Frank Truro would begin to grow convinced that Constantine was the one carrying out these crimes. Meanwhile Faust while looking for a victim would happen upon Chas and sense the life from him and begin to line him up as his next target. As Faust captured Chas and prepared to drain him of his soul and life, John Constantine would rush to the scene only to be confronted by Frank Truro. Truro would hold Constantine at gun point as he said that he knows what kind of man John is and the trail of bodies he has left behind.

Hearing this commotion, Felix Faust would appear before the pair and attack Truro. He would in turn begin to drain Truro of his soul until Constantine would hit him with a spell sending Faust a step back and sparing Truro. As Frank began to see the error of his ways, we would see Faust and Constantine begin a battle of spells. Here Constantine would begin to realize that as dangerous as Faust was with his spells. He was in fact a limited sorcerer and someone who uses magic beyond his own means and understanding based on his own arrogance. As Faust's spells would put everyone in danger Chas would wrap his arms around Faust as he recognized his true power. With Faust struggling Chas would yell for Constantine to strike him down. Despite his hesitancy, John would put his trust in Chas and Chas' warning to Faust that only one of them will come back from this as Constantine cast a spell to kill them both. As a stunned Truro watched on Chas would then recover from his death and be resurrected once more. This would then wrap up Truro's storyline as he admitted his wrong doing and agreed to drop his pursuit of John. As Truro departed, Chas and Constantine would reconnect with Chas pledging to live his life anew and see the good he could do with this gift.

This would lead to our final act of the Constantine solo film which was entitled The Curse of the Constantines. This chapter would very much open with a bang as Constantine would find himself, Zed, Chas, Chantinelle, Nightmare Nurse, Blythe and Papa Midnite all transported before Nergal. This would truly display Nergal's power and show him to be a step above all the enemies and entities Constantine had faced thus far. Shown to revel in his role in Constantine's life as he proudly proclaimed himself the author of all of Constantine's pain and suffering. Now annoyed that Constantine has amassed this little motley crew of friends and allies Nergal says he will delight in making those Constantine love suffer. On listening to Nergal, it would be Midnite who told of Nergal's legacy. An all powerful demonic entity who was the son of a witch and burned at the stake for his crimes against humanity. Blythe would then fill in more blanks as she stated he is someone who quickly rose in the hierarchy of Hell under Lucifer's watch but had very much broken the rules by latching onto one human like this. The reason for this as we'd learn was because Nergal was in fact an ancestor of Constantine and the pair did in fact share the same blood and Nergal sought to prove the demonic traits in his bloodline.

However as Constantine would counter Nergal had not thought his plan through well here with who he had gathered. Constantine would remind Negal that Chas would be resurrected before his eyes over and over again. He would also remind Nergal that Chantinelle, Nightmare Nurse and Blythe were supernatural beings with whom he is merely working with just to stop him while Midnite and him could be enemies the very next day. This would very much trim the field down for Negal who set his sights on Zed while the others looked on. Confused as to why Constantine had done this, Zed would curse at him when Nergal snatched her by the throat only in turn to be sent flying backwards by an unknown force. It would be here that Constantine revealed he had figured it all out, the reason Nergal made all these deals rather than target John himself. It was because he wasn't able to due to them sharing the same blood! It would be then that Constantine and Zed would reveal that in between chapters the pair had a one night stand and now Zed was carrying Constantine's child. This would mean she was also carrying Constantine's blood and that Nergal could not touch her or hurt her himself! Livid at his plan falling to pieces Nergal would threaten Constantine and warn him that he would come for him and those he cared about.

However before Nergal could send them on their way, he would be confronted by the arrival of the angel Zauriel (Austin Butler). An angel of the lord who had come to stop Nergal and his plot. We'd see Nergal's attempts to flee be thwarted thanks to the spells of Constantine and in turn Zauriel would banish Nergal to hell. With Nergal banished to hell, Blythe would reveal that Lucifer would strip him of all his powers and gifts. Standing before Constantine and his allies, Zauriel would remark that there are a lot of eyes and expectation on Constantine. He would also remark that Constantine had best get used to working as part of a team before vanishing. With their group all returned to earth, we would see Constantine, Zed and Chas all look to travel together and be surprisingly joined by Chantinelle who was at this point a trusted ally of Constantine. While this quartet would vanish, we would see the demon Blythe and Midnite talking. Here Midnite would muse that with the fall of the other demons, Blythe was now free and the most powerful demon on earth. With a smirk, Blythe would call it a clearing of the table before her and Midnite would agree to work together as the film came to a close.
