People are ready to burn Meltzer's house down for what he said about Peyton, yet WWE consistently do the same to Kevin Owens always pointing out his weight and NOBODY cares. Men don't suffer insecurities with their image either?

We all know when it comes to body image issues, women are treated much different and in many ways... it isn't fair.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure Owens could not give less of a shit about
what "people" say about his weight...mainly because he can
basically out wrestle anyone on the roster anyway.

Its different for women...

You can REALLY hurt a woman by making a remarks about
their appearance while most men don't give a fuck.

I personally refer myself as a "Shaved Gorilla" & its actually
a running gag with me & my friends.

I think that's the trade off between the two genders...

Women are (generally) more beautiful...but way more fragile.

Although...

*Thinks*

The transgendered women I know are also pretty fragile.

Kevin is on example that doesn't care but I have known plenty of men to care, some more than women. It may not be an issue with weight but plenty have body image issues and they are just expected to suck it up.

So it's ok for the president to degrade women, but some white Stephen A. Smith wrestling dude. Says something, apologizes and still gets attacked. Seems legit

Well...

I guess if you want to change your body...start working out...
if you don't...raise them middle fingers.

Really, people shouldn't worry so much about looks but we live in a world where we are taught looks matter more than a lot of other things. Women think they need to be thin with a shapely butt and C+ chest as well as look 25 or younger their entire life. Then you have men who are expected to have a full head of hair, be tall, and have all kinds of muscles. You can only do so much on your own to change the way your body looks. I think both men and women suffer from body image issues and it is no surprise with the way the general media and Hollywood paint the standards of beauty. Heck, we see it in the WWE, smaller guys tend to not get great pushes and more attractive women tend to get better pushes. I get that in this case, looks play a role but still... There is so much talent out there that doesn't fit the 6'5 build or size 2 frame. I am ranting a bit now. I just know how it feels to have body image issues having dealt with them for many years. It does get easier the older you get but it is still hard at times.

Dave is a very socially awkward human being so he probably did not realize that what he said could be perceived as hurtful even if he did not mean it. This obviously does not justify his comments or give him a free card. And to Dave's credit he seems genuinely upset that he said something that hurt a wrestler that he is a fan of. He even went on a 30+ minute long rambling (true Dave fashion) apology on the Observer episode after this.

Most women in wrestling have thick skin but maybe Peyton has something in her history that triggered her reaction but she has every right to be upset, even if Dave wasn't intentionally mean.

Dave apologized and if he learns to plug in the filter between his brain and mouth more often then we have all gained something from all this.

Dave isn't even the biggest chud on WON. That throne belongs to the manchild that is Alvarez

In a world where Evolution is coming up, and Stephanie is putting herself front and center of a women's revolution when she's been head of creative since 2002. the heyday of thongs, pillow fights, lingerie models, then two-minute matches, and now not only is she trying to brand herself as a catalyst of change, but knowing how WWE has focused all their energies into the marketing and branding side of the product and trying to push into the mainstream however they can and painting themselves in a good image and creating cool graphics and action figures and writing segments based on a movie and... seeing how all that is what's making them money as opposed to you know... letting the stars (in this case, the women) stand on their own, be well-booked and deliver great in-ring performances that get us behind them... like how it all first started... I'm so annoyed at the whole Evolution thing and WWE/Stephanie patting themselves on the back that I can't be bothered by Meltzer talking about boobs.

And on top of that, Dave was talking about how she's a different wrestler on NXT... so is everyone else. There's a great discussion to be had, especially someone who knows as much as Dave does, about why that is. Is it the road schedule? Are they just handcuffed into formula matches on the main roster? Is it the lack of time to prepare? Is the locker room environment lackadaisacal? I'd love to hear more about that and not just jump into a really crazy conclusion like this...

As for Peyton.. Said before that she's the most beautiful woman on the roster, stand by that. But... Maybe it shouldn't always be a bad thing to bring up how someone gained weight. I've gotten in big trouble for that before :)haha:) but 150 pounds looks a lot better than 120. Skeletons suck as much as anorexia...

Also I think a lot of it is a misconception between TV beauty and real beauty... It's a different standard. Carmella does nothing for me, different strokes for different folks, but I guarantee you she's better looking than several of my coworkers who look amazing. So the chick at the self-checkout line may hear us talking about how the latest hot bikini body on People Magazine is meh, and think that they have this unrealistic beauty standard (or I have to have Roman Reigns' muscles) when it's simply not the case
