Danielson comments on WWE release and PG wrestling
Thanks to Aaron Moore and prowrestling.net for the following notes from the Chikara show on Saturday night...

Bryan Danielson came out to a mixture of the NXT and Final Countdown music. When he came out, tons of people threw ties into the ring . He won the match (over Eddie Kingston) with a roll up, but afterwards he got on the mic and talked about how he couldn't talk about what happen.

Danielson did put over PG wrestling by saying that its about the wrestling and even PG stuff can entertain. He was really good on the mic and seemed to be biding his time until he can get rehired.

After the event, I met him with many other fans to get autographs. Tons of people got him to choke them with a tie for their pictures with him. He told me basically that he thought he was a scapegoat and just waiting out his noncompete clause then going from there. Overall, great to see him in person. Great show.

Yeah I was going to go this show but things came up. LOL @ the tie thing.

The show was awesome. Not a bad match on the card. Lots of high flying spotty wrestling and some good comedy throughout the show. I enjoyed this more than DGUSA a couple months ago, and ROH in March. The Danielson/Kingston match was my favorite, but it could have been a little longer. Chikara is the type of wrestling you need to be there live for though, imo. I have a hard time keeping up with it, since theres not a major title, but i'll probably be more into it now.

match ratings

I was very skeptical about the Chikara product due to it's luche background, and comedy style, and young roster, but myself and i think everyone there really enjoyed the show. It was a super fun interactive show.

0. CLASH Showcase: Cameron Skyy & J. Miller vs. GQ & Tommy Treznik (??:??). Solid opening match. I was very impressed by Cameron Skyy, but all the wrestlers did well. They got the crowd involved and really did Showcase Clash. (3.00)

Gavin Loudspeaker sings a awful song but it was still kinda fun way to open the show, and promote the big NYC show.

1. Teacher vs. Student: Mike Quackenbush vs. Green Ant - Cool to see Quack on the card. Nice Surprise. 6 minutes of great submissions back and forth. Green ant kept up with him nicely. (2.5)

2. The Osirian Portal vs. Lince Dorado & Pinkie Sanchez (15:32). This is where the action started getting good. Pinkie and Lince played the heel dynamic very well. The fans were super into this match, and i was worried the crowd would get wore out if they keep this up, however the crowd never really died down. (3.25)

3. Best Friends Forever?: UltraMantis Black vs. Delirious (6:07) - Delirous looked awesome with his ring enterance. This match was short and sweet. (2.5)

4. Fire & Soldier Ant vs. Super Smash Brothers (11:55) Much like Portal vs. pinkie/Lince earlier, However now it was face vs. face. Great action and good match before the break. (3.25)

~ Intermission ~

5. Chikara Dream Match: Bryan Danielson vs. Eddie Kingston (15:19). Danielson enterance was amazing. At first he was coming out to the NXT music and the crowd was laughing/booing. Then dragon's music hit to a extremely LOUD pop. Probably one of the loudest i've heard at a indy show. She was showered with ties. The match never really got into a huge brawl, but a nice in the ring match. Hard hitting. I would have liked this to go a little longer, but it was short and sweet. (3.5 - 3.75)

6. Six-Man Tag: Ares, Tursas & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Acid Jaz, Marshe Rockett & Willie "Da Bomb" Richardson (10:58) 3.0 something good to follow Dragon/Kingston.

7. Young Lions Cup: Tim Donst© vs. Frightmare (11:58).
Another really fun match. Donst played a great heel. Frightmare carried Donst around the crowd, letting the fans chop Donst. Typical strong heel, vs. high flying face. Great finish. (3.25)

8. Eight-Man Main Event: Equinox, Helios & 3.0 vs. Icarus, STIGMA, Chuck Taylor & Vin Gerard (15:47). An epic series of head sciscors by one of the members of 3.0. What you'd expect with a Chikara 8 man. Bodies flying everywhere. Chuck Taylor scared the life out of some kid, and stole a girls purse in the middle of the match. (3.75)

Yeah, most of the card was announced before Danielson signed on for this show. Plus i think they were looking for a "big draw" match. He's one of the bigger names in Chikara. Plus i think it was a first time matchup. I was hoping for a street fight/brawl, but they did a strong style match. It worked out.

^^^Is it just me or does Kingston's strong style come off as incredibly soft? When I think of american strong style I think of classics like Ki-Joe, Joe-Dragon, Dragon-Ki, Homicide-Dragon and the absolute beast of them all; Neco-Joe from IWA:MS. I don't like Chris Hero and Kingston's take on it. Kong's spinning backfist> Eddie's

I wouldn't say incredibly soft...but yeah those other guys hit harder. Sometimes too with Kingston he's been getting beat down, so he wants to be seen as worn down a bit.
