The part about him saying that while he appreciates the immense fan support, the fans should try to focus their attention and support more on the guys that are still there sounded fairly believable. Bryan has always been known as a fairly humble guy.

Considering his reaction to finding out that only one of the Tough Enough competitors watched the Japan show live at broadcast (which was the mildest of the three TE judges), I can't imagine Daniel Bryan saying he didn't watch the current product outside of NXT (I'm paraphrasing that). He lectured the "kids" on keeping up with the company you wanted to be a part of.

Personally, I really enjoy DBD's work and would love to see him back in the ring, particularly if he can do so and stay healthy.

I don't think he has anything left to prove, but I'd love to see him return.

Most pro wrestling fans seem to think he's a pretty entertaining guy.

He was sort of a one hit wonder. I'd say he has plenty left to prove but that's just me
He got all the praise, voted best wrestler before E many times, lived his dream. No reason to continue to get hurt, sometimes you gotta just call it quits and have perspective

There are many many talented performers outside of the WWE company. I would pay to see tons of them and Daniel is as good as any of them in my eyes.

Well then, from the horses mouth itself.

After reading the op I was a little bummed to say the least. Bryan in my opinion was great for the WWE. It is awesome that he is involved with Tough Enough, but his place is in the ring entertaining the fans. So glad to see he tweeted this message. I want him back.

If Bryan ever wants to retire tho, I understand him. He's put his body through hell.

One of my favorite matches.

I never want to see a wrestler put his health in jeopardy by wrestling. That is really totally up to him and his doctors what he decides to do with his career. It would be sad for many fans to see him retire but hell it's his health that were talking about.

Reading that "interview" it read as if he was taking the criticism that his detractors tend to spout and agreeing with it. That should have been the first clue it was fake.
