There were no details given. No formal dates, venues or weight class details offered. Yet, UFC President Dana White essentially guaranteed during last night's MetroPCS video chat with fans UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will eventually fight UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

"I guarantee you Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones will absolutely happen," he said. "It's happening. It will happen."

The devil, of course, is in the details. During the very same chat, White also said a Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre fight would also make sense. Up until very recently, that potential bout has been pushed significantly harder by UFC management than Silva vs. Jones.

No details on a timeline were offered about that proposed superfight between the welterweight and middleweight champion, although it's been suggested by UFC brass a victory by St. Pierre over Carlos Condit at UFC 154 next month frees him up to fight Silva directly afterwards.

In terms of Silva facing Jones, the logistics aren't clear as the window to make it happen appears to be tight. Jones - who also took part in the chat alongside White - suggested he could already be at heavyweight by the end of 2013. "I'll definitely move up to heavyweight, but it'll probably be around 2013," said Jones. "Maybe at the end of 2013. Right now I have a nutritionist and I'm starting to take the career a lot more serious than I used to so my weight cuts are getting a lot easier. I walk around a lot thinner naturally so right now I'm about 225, a 20 pound weight cut. That's really easy. I might look bigger than everyone else I'm fighting but I'm really not."

Jones is currently filming season 17 of FX's 'The Ultimate Fighter' alongside Chael Sonnen. The two will meet for a defense of Jones' title in April of 2013.

As for Silva, there are no clear immediate plans for his next bout. He and his team have openly lobbied for a superfight against St. Pierre and initially firmly rejected the idea of facing Jones. He has since amended that position, saying it's at least possible.

Take it for what it's worth, but I think we'd all love to see this happen. Me personally, i'd rather see this than Silva/GSP too. What's funny is that Dana says it will happen when Jon joins him for questions and he pulls a sort of 'lolwut' face.

GSP/Silva would be uncompetitive, GSP would only be outweighed by 20 lbs.

Uncle Dana should just throw dollars at Andy and Bones and get it done.

Hopefully Dana White doesn't pull a Dixie Carter and actually make the promises/announcements happen,

If it's just going to be Jones kissing Andersons ass and showing too much respect (ala Pat Barry vs Cro Cop) then I don't want to see it anyway.

I think GSP/Silva would be more competitive since GSP would prob try to at least get a few strikes and go for takedowns. Jones/Silva... ehh... would be awesome but I dunno... I'm still very much in favor of the GSP/Silva fight.

I'm not so much into a GSP/Silva fight anymore, I'd like too see it but i don't think it's as special of a fight as it would've been a few years ago. Silva/Jones could be the biggest fight in MMA history and hopefully we get a chance to see it.

I just can't see Silva/GSP being close either, can just see Anderson tooling the fuck out of GSP on the feet.

Condit will beat GSP and ruin any chance of that anyway IMO.

The more i think about it i feel the same way, but i won't believe it until it happens. This isn't me rooting for Condit by any means either, i just have a feeling GSP is going to show extreme amounts of rust in this fight, been over a year since he's fought and he says he wants to stand with Condit. Not sure it'll end by KO or something, but i do think that Condit will tag him with a few good shots.

Condit himself will have been out for like 9 months too so it'll be interesting to see how he comes back too.

I just reckon Condit is the smarter fighter, he'll kick the shit out of that busted up knee, plus he has decent TDD and good attacking off his back so GSP might not want to go there in the first place.

I am worried it'll be an awful fight though, hopefully I'm wrong.

Would love to see this actually happen. Surprised that Dana has come out and been so assertive that it will happen. If they ever do book it this is when they can try to run one of those ridiculously big stadiums in the US.

Cowboy Stadium. Or they could use one of the larger University stadiums... although I doubt they use those... so Cowboys Stadium. 100,000+

That's the one. Obviously this fight alone wouldn't fill the stadium but it would go a long way to doing it, add in a heavyweight title fight and some other high profile fighters and they might be able to do it.
