It appears that Dan Henderson be trying to regain his UFC light heavyweight title shot on February 2nd. In a live interview on Spike TV's Uncensored Live, Hendo confirmed that he will be facing former champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 156. The bout is probably a number one contender's bout, considering both men have claims for a title shot already.

Henderson (29-8) was scheduled to face champion Jon Jones at UFC 151, but was forced to pull out late with a knee injury. Due to the late notice and the champ's decision not to face replacement Chael Sonnen, the card was scrapped. Jones has now been booked as an Ultimate Fighter 17 coach against Sonnen, and the two men will face off on April 27th. Meanwhile, Hendo has been rehabbing his knee and Dana White made it known that Hendo would need to win another fight before he got another title shot. Enter the Dragon.

Machida (18-3) had apparently earned a title shot with an extremely impressive performance against Ryan Bader at UFC on Fox 4, knocking him out in the second round. But in the UFC 151 fallout, Machida turned down a short-notice title fight against Jones (the guy that choked him unconscious at UFC 140), and was put back into the queue as a result.

The main event of UFC 156 is a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar. If what Hendo said on Uncensored is true and the two men do meet in Vegas on February 2nd, this would have to be the co-main event.

Pretty awesome news. This card is getting crazy good.

Aldo vs. Edgar
Hendo vs. Machida
Evans vs. Lil Nog
Koscheck vs. Nick Diaz(Not confirmed yet)

Should be a good fight but ultimately a bad fight for Hendo. I can see Lyoto picking him apart worse than Jones would have, Hendo will just plant his feet and swing for Lyotos head but miss then get popped in the jaw and go down.

Couldn't have put it any better....

Hate to write Hendo off but Machida is way smarter while Hendo is a crude headhunter, can only see this going one way unfortunately, would much rather of seen Jones/Hendo than a rematch of a one sided fight.

Hendo isn't going to get picked ooff by Machida, Hendo will get in his face and clinch and put him against the cage waiting to unleash that H-Bomb, Machida doesn't do well when the other guy clinces and certainly doesn't do well whn the other guy actually gets in his face and doesn't sit back and get countered all fight.

Hendo by decision.

Quality fight, will feel bad for Hendo if he doesn't get the win here as I really wanted to see him get that title shot after that five round war. Still it should be a good fight here and I am not ruling him out of it at all, he could pull off the win here.

Hendo and Machida is going to be an interesting match up for sure. That one is too crazy to really predict what will go down. The rest of the card looks solid. Aldo vs Edgar bleh don't care for Frankie right now should fight for the shot, his little rocky story is starting to annoy me then me actually liking it. Especially with all the title shots he gets. Aldo and Edgar should be a good fight, but not a fan of Aldo and Edgar so I'll watch but won't care who wins. Kos vs Diaz will be good for TTing and should be a fun slug em' that is if they stand. Nog and Rashad sounds awesome, going to love those two styles go at it.

I guess this fight is getting bumped to the UFC 157 Main event, rather than severing as the co-mainevent on UFC 156.

157 is in Anahiem, SF territory.

I'd bet Shields and Rousey will be on that card too.

Who would Rousey fight anyways? That McMann chick?

Serious lack of contenders since Cyborg isn't going to get signed anytime soon.

Put Faber in a sports bra and give him a shot, not like anyone will notice.

Rousey armbar R1.

Rousey armbar R1.

Doable fight, only division Faber hasn't gotten fast tracked into a title shot.

Book it!
