The UFC’s unannounced card in Brazil has a main event.
Dan Henderson and
Mauricio Rua, who fought a five-round war in 2011, will face off one more time, as sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com that the legendary fighters will headline UFC’s yet-to-be-announced card in Natal, Brazil, on March 23.
Tatame first reported the news.
Henderson (29-11) entered free agency on a three-fight losing streak, capped off by a first-round knockout loss to
Vitor Belfort in Brazil, but he recently agreed to a new deal with the promotion. His first fight of the new deal will be a five-round bout with Rua, the last man he beat inside the Octagon.
"Shogun" (22-8), a former UFC light
heavyweight champion, returned to the win column with a first-round knockout of
James Te Huna last December. The win snapped a two-fight losing streak to
Chael Sonnen and Alexander Gustafson.
Henderson defeated Rua via unanimous decision at
UFC 139 in Nov. 2011. The seesaw battle was considered the 2011 Fight of the Year.
The list of fights for the unannounced UFC card in Natal now includes:
