Not too worried about the source because I think it's something fun to speculate on. Initially you just think it was never planned to go down this way but when you look into it though, HHH did say that 80% of the plans were locked in by October. If you allow some leeway in the time frame then shortly after that is when Punk returned and there was talk of him vs Rollins at Mania.

So does that mean he would’ve cashed in on Punk had he not got hurt?

Would’ve given Punk someone to work with while Rollins healed up

my guess is punk/seth would have been the main of n1 and yeah priest would have cashed in on the winner.

Looks that way. Seems as though Rollins was always walking into Mania champion and Priest was walking out champion. The guy in the middle of that sandwich was to be decided still I guess.

Good for Priest. Hunter had a plan and stuck with it

I'm glad that it SEEMS like hunter isn't one for swerves for the sake of swerves. predictable stories are fine as long as they are good.

Feel like they coulda built him a little more than they did if they had this plan 6 months ago, but fair enough

Hell, even though that’s true, he’s been one of the better booked money in the bank winners still in recent memory. :bosque But yeah, it could’ve also been a bit better

The last six months may not have been Priest's best booked period, but he did hold both tag titles for that time and was relatively well protected as a talent. Can't really complain either when he was generally one of the highlights of RAW during that time too lol

I'm shocked but not shocked at the same time because WWE has been that way when it comes to Mania for like forever. I wonder though after how great Drew has been and has been over Priest imo if they were anywhere close to changing it and letting Drew has his time as World Champion. I never want to see any talent fail at all but if you're telling him I can have Priest as Champ or Drew I'm taking Drew all day because of what he brings to the Table outside the Ring and inside the Ring.

Drew got his Mania moment that he's been wanting and they got rid of the briefcase at the same time, it's a win/win situation. Now he has the chance to sign a new deal and most likely win the title back in his home country in a couple of months.
