What were some successful, yet slightly lesser-known games you enjoyed the most?

For me it was this game...

This game was just fucking awesome. The adventures of Jimmy Hopkins kept me busy for hours. Still ranks as my favorite Rockstar game. It captured the essence of childhood and life at school better than anything. The up's, the down's, romance, getting picked on, the popular kids, the losers, and all the little "factions" of students...

I can't imagine anyone playing this game and not finding something to relate to.

This is seriously a game I could play over and over again and never get tired of.

The game also stirred a ton of controversy prior to it's release, being described as a "Columbine game" which it couldn't have been more polar opposite of. I think the popularity of the game lost a lot of steam when everyone found out it was nothing like that, which is unfortunate considering what a masterpiece it was.

Actually still have that game and it's pretty fun to play so that would go on my list. Another one to go way back on for me is Street Of Rage. Back then was pretty addicted to that game.

Yeah Streets of Rage was a huge deal in the Genesis era. One of my friends was completely addicted to it as a kid. He used to write the developers with his ideas and they would send him free shit in the mail like posters and stuff.

Think it might have only been because of PS plus but they had it where u could download it for free some months back so ended up doing so and while of course I don't enjoy it as much playing it now I still enjoy playing it. Wouldn't mind if they revamped it for ps3.

Man, I downloaded Sonic 2 during that free PS+ period and now the fucking thing doesn't work anymore. I was pissed.

lol same though I beat it when I downloaded it only thing I wanted to go back and do that I forgot to do was get super sonic. Another game I could add to this and not totally sure that this is the name of it but think it was called Road Rage, another sega game that I loved playing back then.

Legends was easily my favorite game on PS growing up. I had my ps1 modded to play it and other import games. It sold the least of the three dbz games on ps1, but to me it was fun controlling a 3 man team at once. It was also filled with little hidden gems like if you let Krillin die vs Frieza a scene would unlock and Goku would go ssj with the same aura from the show. Plus they actually had all the main characters which wasn't true for Final Bout or Ultimate Battle. They basically stole its style and put it in the tag game for PSP

For Sega it was easily Sonic 2. For Dreamcast it was Blitz. For XBOX, Inside Drive never got its credit.

Pretty good one in Blitz which reminds me of NBA streets which I used to love as well. Don't know if I would call Sonic 2 a cult classic but rather just a classic.

I could see why 3 would be ranked over it, 1 not really. It's really my least favorite of the sonic series behind 2, 3, sonic and knuckles (which owned cause of the lockon feature) and probably even spinball too.

The "Winners" Circle
The game "Base Wars" is one of the best games for the NES. And best sports games ever. It's baseball, but instead of humans, everyone is a robot, and instead of just "Getting Out" when tagged out, you fight.
