Back in July 2009, the most unforgettable moment in WEC took place when rising featherweight Jose Aldo went up against Cub Swanson, and in a highlight reel moment - the Brazilian knocked out the So Cal fighter in just 9 seconds with a double flying knee which immediately catapulted him into title contention and months later claimed the WEC Featherweight Championship.
5 years have passed since that eventful evening, and both fighters have an foreseeable rematch in the future with their most recent success in the division. But in order for Swanson to do so, he'll have to get through Jeremy Stephens this Saturday when UFC Fight Night comes to the AT&T center in San Antonio Texas.
The fight is sure to decide the next number one contender for the featherweight championship which Aldo holds so dearly, but should Swanson defeat Stephens, he's admitted that he's a much more complete fighter. Or so he told Kenny Florian and Chael Sonnen on UFC tonight:
Swanson last fought in July of last year when he defeated Denis Siver by TKO in an effort that earned him fight of the night honors. His current 5 fight win streak also includes - George Roop, Ross Pearson, Charles Oliveira, and Dustin Poirier. He also believes a win over Stephens will put him next in line for a shot at the title.
UFC Fight Night 44 takes place this Saturday on Fox Sports 1 live from the AT&T Center live from San Antonio Texas.

I personally can't stand Cub Swanson and want to see a Poirier rematch so badly. But more than likely if he does win, then he'll be next in line for a title shot.

Cub Swanson said:I honestly say that this is the most complete I’ve ever been for a fight. My wrestling is on point. My Jiu-jitsu game is on point. My stand up is sharp as always. I just know I’m rising to the occasion.
He has knocked some people out cold. I’ve always said ‘maybe I don’t hit that hard’ but I’m pretty accurate, keep a gnarly pace, and it doesn’t matter how I’m getting the W’s but I’m getting them.

Cub Swanson said:It would be six wins in a row for me. I’m hungry. Eleven years in the making. It’s my time.
