Starc showing that he is handy with the bat, closing in on all-rounder status in my opinion. Need early wickets here with the new ball, pitch looks pretty flat otherwise. Hopefully Lyon can get some turn like Swann did.

50-2 with 6 mins of play left. Shame Bresnan didn't review the decision to dismiss him, as it didn't hit the bat.

So 52-2 at the close of Day 2. A good day for Australia no doubt. Hopefully tomorrow Trott can get some good runs and make a good score, the same as Cook.

Australia's day no doubt after posting a big total and getting two wickets, although I only look at it being 1 with it being a night watchmen if you get me. Australia in a stronger position as it stands given they have the runs in the bank, but tomorrow is obviously a crucial day as if we can bat out the full day then it'll most likely be heading towards a draw but if we're bowled out then it's Australia's for the taking.

Good result to get the two wickets to close out the day's play, even if one is Bresnan it is one less wicket to get. Shame that Lyon had another catch dropped off his bowling, it was a brilliant delivery to Cook to get the edge. Story of his career so far, has had so many catches dropped behind the wicket off his bowling. Good captaincy from Clarke to bring him on so early though.

Nathan Lyon was bowling awesome yesterday, Cook didn't look comfortable at all but I have to ask, why in the hell didn't Bresnan review that decision? I was very happy seeing the back of him since he pissed us off so much at Lords but in 1 day you have the review system used wrong with both captains at the other end haha. If only Cook was Aussie captain and told Warner that he absolutely smashed the cover off of it. 52-2, obviously Aussies are in the boxseat for proberbly the first time in this whole series, I think the main man will be Lyon again. If he gets it right, holds up one end and lets the quicks rotate, I think we are very capable of bowling England out today. Should be a good days cricket though and you watch, at one stage today, Clarke will chuck the ball to Warner!!!!

Lyon looked like a determined man yesterday to show how ridiculous it was to drop him for the first two tests. Hopefully he picks up a few wickets early today. Not sure why Bresnan didn't review it, surely he would have felt it hit his hip on the way through. I want to see Clarke mix things up today and give Smith and Warner spells even before Lunch if we haven't made too many inroads.

I think it was worth a gamble, a person the English haven't seen before, but I am with you, I defiantly think Lyon should have been playing and he has shown it to be the wrong decision so far, lets hope he doesn't bottle it though. The commentators were saying that Cook might have told him not to incase he was wrong and he wasted it on a nightwatchmen, makes sense but still struggling to figure out why not, maybe even Warners dismissal as well was in Cooks head no idea. I like that idea Troy, in fact I would bring one of them on really early for a few overs, can't remember the last time Australia actually got Trott out. He seems to lose focus really and get himself out way to easy, might just relax a bit too much against those 2

Cook's now gone. 110-4.

Bell & Pietersen need to put on a really big partnership here.

They picked Agar because he could take the ball away from the batsmen, since the English lineup is mostly right handers. I don't think that is a strong enough reason to drop a guy that managed to take 9 wickets in his last test in India. Lyon was good before lunch but for some odd reason only got three overs, after lunch Bell and Pieterson targetted him and hit him for a few runs.

Happy with the two wickets in the morning session, need another couple before tea. 164/4

Well that was odd. Watson bowling, hits Pieterson on the pads, big appeal but we didn't review it when given not out. We have two reviews up our sleeve and England are four down so why not use one? Terrible use of DRS by both sides this test.

Clarke needs to mix things up a bit and give Smith or Warner an over or two before the second new ball.

Australia doing really well this test. Will be lucky to get a win here though. I think England are more than capable to bat the day out if need be with the wicket holding up pretty well.

Going to be an interesting couple days.

Australia effectively 259-3 at the moment. Australia might look to add another 100 or so runs, and if they do that before the close of play, put us into bat tonight and try and get a wicket or two before tomorrow morning.

Thank You Shane Watson, now goodbye.

Rain's stopped play, and the players have taken Tea 10 mins early with the score 296-5. Hopefully it's not raining after Tea too.

Haddin's gone. 311-6

331-7. Starc's gone, still no declaration from Clarke.

Bad light stops play, WTF. The conditions are playable, stupid umpires.
