Could Ronda Rousey make it in the WWE?

I thought this was a rather interesting article.

Matthew Artus - Ronda Rousey, arguably the greatest pound-for-pound female mixed martial artist in history, recently “fan-girled out” on Twitter at the thought of filling Seth Rollins’ vacated spot in The Shield.

The feeling must be mutual for The Hounds of Justice, who would do well to align with the first American ever to win an Olympic medal in women’s judo.

Rousey, who adopted the nickname “Rowdy” after receiving the blessing of Roddy Piper himself, rarely needs more than a minute to finish a fight, thanks to her agony-inducing armbar submission maneuver. She remains undefeated in MMA competition, with little hope of a worthy adversary on the horizon.

Of course, formidable challenges would fill Rousey’s slate in WWE, from the likes of Divas Champion Paige to the technically-proficient Natalya. The Divas division would need to step up its game against such a fierce newcomer, while the “Rowdy” fighter would surely cherish the chance at battling the best the WWE Universe has to offer.

If she can adapt her MMA background to keep up with the varied styles and frenetic pace of WWE, Rousey could easily follow in Brock Lesnar’s footsteps to become one of the most dominant forces in sports-entertainment.

As much as people on this site have been opposed to MMA stars being in the WWE. I believe Ronda definitely fits the profile for being one of the few UFC fighters to make a WWE appearance, with her constant trash talk and alpha girl attitude she could definitely make for an interesting episode of Monday Night RAW. I for one believe certain UFC personalities like Chael Sonnen, Ronday Rousey, and even Nick Diaz could definitely be good representatives for the UFC.

Also I found it was interesting how they said, "the frenetic pace of WWE". I hope they weren't meaning athletically, because wrestling training is more power than it is conditioning of strength.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing a Rhonda Rousey vs AJ Lee or Rhonda Rousey vs Paige, Rhonda Rousey vs Natalya, or Rhonda Rousey vs Sara Del Rey. There's so many options for her to wrestle against, but I don't think it would be very fair to girls like Cameron, Eva Marie, the Bellas, Rosa Mendes, and a few others. I think it would be interesting to say the least.

But the other part knows that WWE don't take Women's wrestling seriously enough for me to think it'd be worth it. Sure, she'd come in with legitimacy, but what's that worth in the Diva's division?

It'd never work full-time, not that she'd probably want to work full-time anyway. However if she could same how work it out with the UFC I wouldn't at all be surprised to see her in a match at a WrestleMania or something.

I don't think WWE would make her a full time star at all. Brock Lesnar has an MMA background and from what I've read from BJPenn.com, he makes very seldom WWE appearances.

She'd be more geared for a single storyline, or making the odd appearance here and there. Similar to Maria Menounos, plus, I don't think she'd completely give up Women's MMA (where she's killing it) to be in the WWE.

There are rumours that the Four Horsewomen will be guests at Summerslam so it's not completely out of the question.

Brock is only part time because he chooses to be. After his hugely successful UFC run, Brock was able to name his price, and since he has his injuries and dislike of being on the road, he could choose to work a limited schedule.

With that said, Ronda's a proven PPV draw too so she could also name her price.

I know women's wrestling is always on the backburner with the WWE, but the fact she's UFC might have a different outlook with the WWE. Look at how TNA and WWE did the Jersey Shore thing. TNA went after the B or C list Jersey Shore cast members, but WWE went right for the A+ cast member. Look at what TNA did with Rampage and Tito Ortiz? Basically nothing. Look at what WWE did with Brock Lesnar. I think Rhonda Rousey could have an enjoyable part-time career with the WWE and never win the title, but be pretty impressive. It could be like Maria Menounos from Extra feuding with Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres. Maybe have Natalya and another diva, turn them heel, and approach Rhonda saying wrestling is better than UFC fighting. Something along those lines. That's just my stance on it.

They were set to fight in Bellator though, so they really couldn't have them be alleys on TNA, they had to hype the fight and them being on opposite sides was how they had to do that. Probably still could have done the whole thing better though.
