Just curious if anyone knows if this is a good tower or not.

Gateway SX2110G-UW318

What I like about it is the HDMI port which is what I was looking for in a tower so I can hook it to my HD TV.
I had a Gateway laptop as my first laptop & LOVED it.

well it's an entry level tower for everyday use as long as you don't plan to game with it or do heavy photo/video editing you should be fine.

No. For the $300 price I'm seeing, that is beyond awful. Order a custom build from a good site, you'll get so much more for your money. I can help you with this if needed.

Custom built? What do you mean? I am not looking to spend more then $300 & I want some kind of warranty. I want it to do basic stuff. I won't be using it for gaming or anything.

You choose the parts, they build. Tailored perfectly to you.
The desktop you posted will barely do the basics, it is very slow.
I can find a good US based business, and put together a custom pc for you. Tell me your desktop usage and a maximum budget and I'll do it, if you want me to.

If its a better deal, I would love it! I don't want to go over $300. I use a laptop now & never owned my own desktop so I am not sure on all the specs. I want it to have an HDMI port so I can use it with my HD TV, have enough memory for pictures, videos & music, and I think thats it really. I am honestly not sure on anything else. Being able to burn/play HD videos would be a plus but that it probably expensive lol

A core reads/executes the commands. The more cores, the more you can do at once. The higher the clock speed (eg. 1.7Ghz) the faster the core can run.

Save up a litle bit more and buy something that blows away your laptop. What you are getting now is a slight improvement. Unless you just want it for bsing on like you said.
