Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Over 20 years after going off the air, "21 Jump Street" is headed to the big screen. The show's original star, Johnny Depp, is returning for a cameo in the upcoming Columbia Pictures release.
According to ComingSoon.net, Depp is confirmed to film a small role for the film, though there's no specifics as to what. Depp played Officer Tom Hanson on the show for 80 episodes.
Set to hit theaters in March 2012, "21 Jump Street" stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as two undercover cops assigned to work in schools.
It looks like a wish is coming true for star Hill who previously said that a "really funny" cameo had been written for Depp and that he wished he would do it.
"21 Jump Street" is set to be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who helmed "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," and also stars Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, Johnny Simmons, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco, and Jake Johnson.
Depp will next be seen reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and is currently filming "Dark Shadows" with filmmaker friend Tim Burton.
