Returning to WWE would actually be the perfect culmination of his heel turn if you really think about it
it would but I just really don't think the current wwe fanbase (outside people like you) would care that much? it's not like he's realistically going to go to WWE and win titles. unless he does and if he does then I'm not not even sure if that makes him a heel to aew fans since he went there and won? weirdest wrestling timeline is all I can resolve myself to saying.

this is more and more looking like its for real. only other option is that cody and aew decided to work the sheets too but idk, to what purpose?

Unless he was just super unhappy or some like big clash happened and he wanted out, the only real option is WWE right? Like he wouldn't give up the AEW gig to go anywhere else surely?

There were rumors last year that he was butting heads with the Bucks or something but the Bucks just made jokes about that so I didn't take it seriously

Its not about the WWE fanbase Jeff we live in a hyper meme reality now and the meme value of this is through the roof

yeah but memes only last like a week so that's not really a great business move unless he's getting more money. but then again, wwe makes you drop outside endeavors thats not through them unless your john cena, and cody is not john cena. so many weird layers that dont make sense lol

But yes realistically, Cody ain't gonna be a major player in WWE and the only way they could sell him as anything more than a returning midcarder would be to reference AEW which they probably won't do

They could give him KOTR like they did with Harley Race in the 80s bc they didn't want to talk about the NWA existing

I think you are on to something that Cody would only bring AEW more legitimacy by going over to WWE :heston

Also something to consider is that he and Brandi have done a lot outside of wrestling over the past few years with their TV show, Cody hosting the GO BIG SHOW, and more. Also Cody has made a good bit of money over the past several years. Even before AEW, he revealed in an interview before he was making more money than he made in WWE when he left it at first and bet on himself. Add the fact they have a family now, there is a chance they could be changing professions/focus.

But either way, I'll miss Cody on AEW TV. There has been some justified criticism of his character at times, but he has excelled with promos, building storylines, and even some matches with his ladder match on Dynamite potentially being a good finale for him in the company.

Guy has obviously grown his brand ten fold since leaving but this just seems so shocking if it's to happen. Can't believe he just woke up and decided he wanted to go back to the WWE on a whim and I would imagine he was on a nice salary aswell so money being the main factor would surprise me.

two scenarios I can think of

a) its just real and he's leaving for wtv reason

b) he is dropping all his jayfabe face positions and coming back as "someone" else.
