CM Punk Scheduled To Headline WrestleMania 29

- As recently as last week, WWE creative was forwarding storylines with the idea that CM Punk will be featured in the closing match of WrestleMania 29.

Not really buying this even though I don't know what the scheduled matchup at Mania would be. The only way he closes the show for me is if he faces The Rock which is possible or The Undertaker which I doubt.

Imo it's about time Punk main events mania. Whether Austin comes back to face him this year, somehow do a Brock/Punk match, Punk vs Cena vs Rock, etc.

I can't see this happening unless Punk faces Cena or Rock. Rock is tentatively scheduled to face Punk at Rumble so I doubt that's going to happen; and it seems that WWE wants Cena-Rock II so I don't see Punk main eventing. I've been struggling to find an opponent for him at all recently

Or he could get on heymans bad side and end up facing Brock Lesnar at WM 29.

Rock vs Punk seems to be where WWE are going for the Rumble. So perhaps at Mania, Rock will defend the WWE title (he said he would hold the WWE title again, so i'd assume he'd beat Punk at the Rumble should the match happen) against Punk?

I definitely don't see Punk facing Taker. And it'd be a waste to have Punk/Cena for the umpteenth time.

Rock could win the Rumble and face Punk at Mania you know.

They've gave Punk the ball for a year already, I don't see why they would take it away from him now. I guess with the trend of rematches at Mania in recent years Rock/Cena II is always a possibility, but Rock/Punk would be much more likely IMO.

I thought about this funny but kind of possible idea where Punk would lose the title to Rock but then enters the rumble and wins that assuming they stay true to tradition where the rumble always main events.

Dear me, we knew things were bad in the WWE but surely not this bad? Punk in my view is going to go down, yet again, as the guy that dropped the ball. When ratings went majorly down who was the WWE Champion? Who was leading the company? I'd be very surprised if he is featured somewhere in the middle of the show because once he loses that title (thank God) he will go back to being just another card filler on the roster.

CM Punk headlining Wrestlemania is pretty undeserved and is pretty much bollocks, he can barely draw for a monthly PPV, having him headline at Wrestlemania is just rating suicide... No doubt they'll have to bank roll on having an incredibly strong undercard to sell the PPV, because it certainly won't be CM Punk drawing at Wrestlemania.
