Feels almost like he tried to get out of the AEW contract :lol
I feel like if Punk was trying to get out of his contract he would have just been honest and asked for his release like any decent person would.

This was after the Jungle Boy fight but before the firing so he could have already knew he was done but he talked up HHH like CRAZY during his Cauliflower alley club speech

I just don't think merchandising is a big enough factor to be put up against the negative. and its a big IF. but again ,ur not really denying the risks like others might be
There’s always a risk. Anyone denying that isn’t being truthful with themselves. My issue is it’s not a foregone conclusion, either.

As far as the negatives. WWE don’t play so it depends on what you mean. Any shooting would be dealt with immediately. Punk won’t have that rope to hang himself with there and that also means no one will shoot on him, either. Which I feel people still keep forgetting about. Punk’s fights and behavioral issues always start after someone shoots on him, and maybe someday he’ll see a therapist to learn how to deal with it, but for now WWE won’t allow it.

Now if you mean him being a miserable prick backstage, I don’t think WWE will care. WWE’s motto has always been what’s best for business. Vince has let some people back that have said some of the most vile shit about him including Bret Hart who actually did lunge at him like Punk did Tony. Money heals all wounds in Stamford, it seems.

I thought I'd read somewhere that he had? or maybe it was they needed to decide either release him or let him get back to work.

they should care, poisoning the well backstage is a good way to lose the goodwill you have with those talent and risk pushing them away with the competition. I'm sure AEW would love for Seth to get annoyed so they can make a big offer for example (theoretical, ofc).

there's also the bad press angle, which WWE has had almost none of since HHH took over. historically we already saw what Punk did to AEWs PR when things went south. And regardless if shooting would be dealt with immediately, the damage would already be done, so for me, that's not really a strong argument that is pro.

Money does absolutely not heal all wounds, or guys like Mox and Jericho would be back in WWE. Everyone has different motivations.

I think just assuming he’s going to walk in and be the same guy he was in AEW is a reach.

I’ve said it before; things under the TKO umbrella wouldn’t be as fast and loose as they were in AEW. He would have to be on his Ps and Qs. And I’m sure they’d tell him that the second they sat him down before signing

And I think you guys forget that it was barely 2-3 years ago when WWE was getting bad press, their lockeroom was angry and they were dropping in the ratings and in on screen quality. It doesn't take much to fuck up good vibes.

I’m saying money heals all wounds with Stamford. Mox and Jericho aren’t Vince. Though, I would say AEW paid them hefty. I don’t think we can fully discount that.

Why do people act like drama never happens in WWE btw? did people already forget about Sasha? about the belt toss? about becky and charlotte? sometimes it gets resolved, sometimes it doesnt. they are not this perfect structure where nothing bad every happens.

I think you underestimate when someone has a zero tolerance policy. It usually stops the first time from ever happening. The amount of times someone has shot on WWE television is next to zero because no one wants to face the consequences for it.
