The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports there was a closed-door meeting before Raw a few weeks ago involving officials and the road agents. The meeting had to do with the declining ratings for Raw.

As you would expect, the older wrestlers-turned-agents believed that the low ratings could be attributed to too many pre-taped scripted promos and less in-ring action on Raw. The producers were said to be in a bad mood coming out of the meeting.

So what do you guys think? Will this bring about any change in the WWE product, particularly RAW? Could we actually see some more wrestling on that show now?

I said in another thread a few days ago that the lack of good, longish in-ring action was one of the reasons why the ratings were falling. Hopefully this will see a change. It would make me watch more attentively at least

Meetings are NEVER good. Lol, Last time there was an all office meeting at my job, there was a person in the company leaking our trade secrets to our competition. There were threats of legal action and other repercussions. A REAL MORALE BOOSTER!

Wow that was a tangent, I dont think it will change much. Id like to see less scripting of promos. Im pretty sure those killer Flair/HBK ones werent scripted and I dont think that HHH/Cena one from last week was either.

Yeah i agree id love to see more wrestling and more non scripted promo's by the stars that can pull it off. i agree with Keadon i don't think Cena/HHH wasn't scripted this week on Raw and it was a wicked promo. so i hope that if things are gonna change then i hope its for longer matches.

Well in a 2 hour show, I expect to see atleast 6-7 Matches/45mins-1 hour of Wrestling...(PPV average about 7-9 Matches)

(wrestler can't get over in a 2-4 mins, they extra times.)
Example: Burchill has lost a bit of Heat since losing cleanly to kennedy within 4 Mins.. That isn't going do any good for burchill future, it will evaulate. But you need to get both over in these kind of fueds, because these 2 will be the future soon...

I like Promo/storyline angles but they need to be reduce.....

Another one would be reduce these squash matches (do they one SD or ECW, But Raw ment to be #1 Show. So i should expect to see less squashes on this show rather than the others.) or Diva Dances Off...

I agree on both points. First off very rarely are their meetings held because things are good, especially ones that sound as bad as "closed door" meetings. But personally I doubt much would change. The only thing I'd like to see is once in awhile to get to see a really great long type match, like 25+ minutes. I doubt it'd happen but that's what I'd do to change things.

I completely agree about less to absolutely zero scripted promos. You're absolutely right in saying that the HBK-Flair promos that were absolute gold were not scripted. You could also tell that HHH-Cena's weren't either. There is definitely a huge difference in promos that are scripted and ones that aren't. The ones that aren't flow better and 9.9999999 times out of 10 are better than scripted ones. The problem is that guys like HHH, Flair, HBK, etc. that can really work the mic are few and far between these days ergo you get scripted promos that usually suck or just aren't that good.

OK, heres my 2 cents (aka rant)

The problem is NOT the wrestling, and the problem is NOT the promos. Its not the storylines, its sorta the booking, but i see the main problem is their characters!

People don't care about Batista, and Cena. They may like them, but they don't care about them. They have to do a better job of getting the realness out in their characters so people can relate better to them. Im not saying Cena/Batista are the problem, cause they are basically just an example. But really, do you really care about ANY of the wrestlers on the roster??? When cena got injuried, the fans were like GOOD. THats a problem. HHH went down, oh well, lets root for lashley now. Orton is injuried? So what we got Jericho. Same thing with TNA. People dont care. Most wwe fans now, are just WWE loyal, and not loyal at all to their roster. (i can't speak for the young crowd though)

In my opinion, its the opposite with ROH. Their wrestlers actually bust their ass. They could get injuried in any match, and the fans appreciate them putting their bodies on the line.

How to get WWE/TNA fans more attached to their wrestlers??? An easy way is to inject more emotion/attitude into the product. THe wwe wants to keep watering down its product, it shouldnt be much surprise the ratings are down. TNA is still working on gettin its characters down. The wwe has the characters, its just they are playing pattycake in the ring. The promos are average with little of them being spoken from the heart.

AGree'd MEETINGS are never good.

IMO, you watch Smackdown and ECW for wrestling, and Raw for more storylines and more drama. Not saying that SD/ECW doesn't have drama, but Raw is the main brand and I think that the WWE tries to push storylines with Raw...instead of Smackdown and ECW like they should do. They should make their A Brand the one with the most wrestling.
