That's the point.
If the WWE can't put their label on it, they don't want anything to do with it, and they sure don't want you doing it. Look at what they did with JBL and his Seven Summits climb. They paid for the whole thing knowing that they'd be able to get their label out even more every time he completed one of the mountains.
Money-wise, you can say they're doing the right thing but they just hurt the product in the short term.
I agree with his point about the if you're not with us you're against us mentality that WWE seems to have. If they can't get their hands on what you're doing they turn their nose up at you. I think that's kind of why they let Ryder's push fall through because he got popular on something WWE had no hand in. I get the thinking that they don't want to lose any wrestlers to outside workings but same time these wrestlers have to have a life outside of wrestling sometimes.
