Is anyone a fan of Chikara?

For people unfamilar with them they are a Pennsylvania based promotion that specializes in American lucha with some puro and regular wrestling influence. Great family friendly stuff right there.

I'm very familiar with CHIKARA Pro. Tomorrow I'm actually going to make a thread called Indy spotlight, which is going to spotlight an indy promotion once a month and Chikara is going to be the first. Chikara is fun to watch, its honestly unpredictable. I like the fact that its based around humor, much like PWG, and the DVD covers are awesome. My favorite show that I have seen so far is CHIKARA Torneo Cibernetico 2006.

Some people like Chikara better than ROH. ROH gets a lot of hate because they "steal" stars from other promotions. The old argument was that they couldn't build anybody new but I think that's subsided now. Chikara's almost all homegrown and it's adored. Quack v Kings, ftw.

I love me some Chikara!!! Great wrestling, great gimmicks, fun atmosphere and more masks than you can shake a stick at. All in all a great product that's a little off the beaten path. The only wrestling I even watch anymore is Chikara, ROH and the odd iwa-ms show (maybe i should check out pwg though).

They also happen to have the best tag-division in the business at the moment. Hell, their tag division os their strong suit. And who doesn't enjoy watching a team called Los Ice Creams?

Damn well said right there.

I was actually thinking that if Chikara did a weekly televised show in the mornings locally in Philly and the surrounding area (where I live), it could actually do well. Think about it, it could be the alternative to Saturday morning cartoons for kids (since Chikara IS a family friendly promotion), and have the great wrestling that wrestling fans love. Thoughts?

Idk how i feel about Chikara. Im not too hot on the pod cast, and not really a fan of quack and wiggly hosting. They are kinda nerdy to me. They got a couple great wrestlers, and a few good wrestlers, but i only really like their best guys. Quack, Taylor, Akuma, Jigsaw.

Now i see they got a Pod per view for only 3 bucks, i was going to order it until they said it was only 2 matches, and one was a womens match. Plus its only 40 minutes. I think they could put together a better show for a podcast ppv imo.

All in all, i perfer ROH/PWG still due to their roster and style, but Chikara still puts on some great entertaining segments. They got the right idea going with their podcast, but their ppv's could use a make up.

I also miss saturday morning wrestling.... I think it would a good idea for a program to move to sat.

Team F.I.S.T. is easily my favorite tag team, I like the mix of styles. We have a guy in Akuma who's a great martial artist and has a very strange look to him, and we have Icarus who's not the most talented guy by any means but can generate heat very well and is also no slouch in the ring.

Yeah, we get PBS here. I think it would be a great network to host the show. Actually, the show wouldn't have to be long, only around an hour. I think it would be a cool idea as kids and wrestling fans would watch, not to mention it gives Chikara more exposure.

After critizing the Chikara Podcast, i must say the most recent one (76) hosted by Bryce Remsburg and Ultra Mantis Black was very good. I much rather see them host it, than quack n wiggly. Ultra Mantis Black is pretty funny and entertaining.
