Hey guys, this is my first ever review…sorry if its late!
Anyway, welcome to my TNA Slammiversary 2008 review. This is the 6 year anniversary PPV special. People didn't think that this company would last 6 weeks, well..it lasted 6 years and hopefully we'll get to see 6 more! Lets get this thing started:
TNA X-Division Chamionship: Kaz vs “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams©
This was an awesome opener, one of the best in TNA history. The great thing about this match was they gave it time, and it built up to be an awesome X-Division Title match that I would love to watch again. The finish came when Kaz was trying to fight off Scott Steiner and Petey hit him with the Canadian Destroyer for the pin.
Rating: ****
6 Woman tag: Moose and The Beautiful People vs Gail Kim, ODB, and Roxxi Laveaux
This was a decent match, they brawled early then made it back to the ring. Also, Love and Sky teased leaving Moose in the ring all by herself and ditching the match, but Kim ODB and Roxxi quickly chased after them and started to brawl. Moose looked good in her first match in TNA, she has to get rid of that awful name though.
Final rating: **
TNA World Tag Team Championship: LAX© vs Team 3D
The match started out a little slow because 3D were dominating, but it built up and really got going towards the end. LAX hit their signature Tope con Hedo (I know I killed the spelling on that) by Homicide and that big suicide dive by Hernandez. LAX got the victory when 3D were setting up for the 3D but Homicide got the roll up for the win
Rating: ** ½
Awesome Kong’s try and beat me but I’ll just squash you like I always do $25,000 challenge:
This was an okay segment I guess, Kong came out and picked some girl from the crowd, she had to pick between one white girl and one black girl, she picked the white one first. It was a usual squash and Kong got the pin with the implant buster. Then she decided to take on the black girl, I think her name was Josie or something. Josie got the slightest bit of offence in before Kong completely squashed her and got the pin with the Awesome bomb. Then afterwards, Eric Young came out with a fake Elvis. The impersonator sounded a little bit like the real one, but looked nothing like real Elvis. Anyway, Kong ended up hitting the Awesome Bomb on the Elvis wannabe and that ended that segment.
Jay Lethal and So Cal Val’s wedding:
They started this segment by introducing the legends, they were all wearing suits which was pretty cool. Anyway, after the introduction of the legends, Jay Lethal came out, followed by So Cal Val who was wearing a wedding dress. Lethal had some type of outfit on that really looked weird. Speaking of weird, Sonjay Dutt had some type of Indian costume on too. Anyway, right before Lethal and Val were about to officially get married, Sonjay stopped it and said he wanted to marry Val. This caused Val to start crying, Lethal and Sonjay eventually started brawling, the wedding set got ruined as well. Here is the part that I didn’t think made much sense, the Legends got into the ring and beat the hell out of Dutt, Jake the Snake also put his Snake on him. This made Sonjay look like a fool, and probably killed any chance of me caring about this fued. It wasn’t a good segment, but it wasn’t as bad as what people have been saying. Definitely did NOT need to be on PPV though.
Grudge Match: AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle
Anyway, after that segment we got right back to business and I’m sure glad we did. Kurt Angle came out with Tomko by his side, but he was eventually thrown out by Earl Hebner which was awesome. Speaking of awesome, this match was exactly what I hoped it would be. Their were some parts that made me cringe though, because AJ did his flipping suicide dive type move and his leg hit Kurt’s neck. We all know how bad Kurt’s neck must have been hurting him after that, but Angle is a fucking machine so he kept going and fought through what was probably a lot of pain. Anyway, AJ and Kurt mat wrestled for a little bit, Angle did his signature “run up to the top turnbuckle” and he hit AJ with an Olympic slam from there. The finish was great, Karen Angle came down and teased turning on AJ but instead she did what she did to Samoa Joe at Hard Justice, she pulled the chair away from Kurt Angle and AJ Styles hit the Styles Clash for 3. Post match, Angle beat down AJ which means that this fued is going to continue, and that is a good thing!
Rating: *** 1/2
King of the Mountain for the TNA World Title: Samoa Joe © vs Christian Cage vs Robert Roode vs Rhino vs Booker T
Special Enforcer: Kevin Nash
Oh my god, it took them like 8 hours to finally start this match! Not only were the entrances long, but we had to sit through a little promo before every single wrestler who came out. Anyway, they started out with some brawling but then things really got going, Samoa Joe hit an over the top rope suicide dive on basically everyone, and Christian Cage then hit a cross body from the top of the penalty box. Kevin Nash did his job well, he forced Robert Roode into the penalty box when Roode got pinned, it was great. The finish came when Samoa Joe was about to get gored, but he moved out of the way and Rhino hit the gore on Christian who went flying into the table. Roode then grabbed the title and tried to hang it but Joe caught him and hit the Muscle Buster on him. He then pinned him, climbed up the ladder and won!

Additional Thoughts: This was a great PPV, the best of 2008 by far. This topped Lockdown as best PPV of 08, and I really enjoyed it. Wrestling wise, this was awesome, but the Kong challenge and the wedding brought it down a bit. Either way though, I really didn’t find myself getting bored at all throughout this PPV. I’m also really happy that Samoa Joe’s world title run is going to continue!
