The wow factor for me was the speed. The first time i tested the site on my own server, I saw it go. Even upgrades are a fucking breeze.

It was a bottleneck that I wanted xenForo to get right in the next upgrade, and that prayer was answered with XF2.

Give it time. In x.1 new features were deployed, like 1.1.x or 1.2.x. I know the next major update is going to feature new stuff. I even ordered a custom design recently, and it's looking good so far.

It will be even faster. Upgrades on the original was almost a pain. I had to wait a few minutes just for it to upgrade.
