Fredrik Bond, the Charlie Countryman helmer, has been tapped to direct London Has Fallen, the sequel to 2013's action-thriller Olympus Has Fallen, THR has learned.
The first movie took place at the White House, but as the title suggests, the action will now shift over to London, where the President of the United States is attending the funeral of a British prime minister who has died under mysterious circumstances.
Bond will direct from a script written by Katrin Benedikt, Creighton Rothenberger, and Christian Gudegast. Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman will return to reprise their roles.
Production will start this October for release a year later on October 2, 2015.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and made for $70 million, Olympus Has Fallen grossed over $160 million at the global box office.
So we move from DC to London, not a bad idea.
