Thread may contain a typical BLFFL rant/opinion, but what does everyone else actually think regarding Cena's somewhat early return?

I trust you to not treat me like an idiot for asking this, so... how long has he been gone exactly? I know it's early, but how early are we talking here? I posted an image in the funny wrestling pictures thread that pretty well sums up my feelings. I hated the injury, as for me it is the same with football -- love them or hate them I don't like for people to be injured, but I was looking forward to actually having a few months of Cena-free time. I knew it sounded too good to be true, but I was looking forward to it.

Him returning early is no surprise as that seems to be typical Cena, typical Vince and typical WWE. We all know Super Cena defies logic. I wonder if he is suppose to be fully recovered by then and able to return to work full-time. If not, then maybe they're doing a temporary return to boost ratings, sell merch, and further push their "Rise Above Cancer" thing (which is stupid because they only focus on breast cancer, so it should be "Rise Above Breast Cancer," but whatever). I know Cena's making appearances to promote their "Go Pink" campaign or whatever you want to call it, and him being at an event while it's still October will give him a chance to be on the show and more visible showing support for that effort.

If it's a short term return while he's still recovering / recuperating, I won't mind it nearly as much. If he's already returning full time and not giving me the full enjoyment I hoped to get from his hiatus, then I'll be more upset and disappointed.

Pretty much sums up what I feel, but just gonna throw this in, isn't it kinda weird to only make a month around one form of cancer? I think it should be around all forms of cancer really...

Not going to lie, I'm happy he's back. His work in the Summer was the best I've ever seen from him so I'm excited to see what happens.

Not to mention the fact that WWE has been unwatchable for me since his absence.

This. September is for Prostate Cancer Awareness, believe it or not. Of course they didn't do blue ropes and blue merch for that though. I understand breast cancer is bad. I understand it sucks. I hate it as much as the next person. But it royally bugs me when there is such an emphasis on that as if the other forms of cancer are nothing, and as if they don't care to help "join the fight" against the cancers.

Honestly I didn't know that because no one shows any care for it. It isn't fair to everybody else, I know lots of people who have/had cancer from other parts of their body and had to suffer, where's their month? Where is their "fight" and colors? I'm not bashing supporting breast cancer, I understand completely that it's horrible, but there are plenty of other cancers too. Plus, what do people even do this month to show concern? Wear pink and say save the breasts, yet they do not educate themselves about the sickness of breast cancer? It just feels like it's the time of the month for big companies to show that they "care" more than anything.

WWE needs Cena. Cena wants to wrestle. You don't need a year to recover from a surgery + you can make rehab exercises at home.

August 18th.

Thanks!
So basically he's only been out a month and a half before they announce his return later this month. :idk: That seems pretty rushed unless he has just recovered THAT quickly. If he's already returning full time, then they'll have to be careful about having him end up injured yet again.

Thank you!! That is what I've been saying for a long time now. Yeah, September was proclaimed National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month (had to edit my post once I realized I goofed), but you didn't hear a peep about it. (Similarly, November is "Movember" which involves growing out mustaches and raising awareness for prostate cancer and other forms of male cancers.) Then October hits and all of a sudden all these companies and others are clamoring to get everything out in pink and talk about supporting the fight against breast cancer. That's all fine and good, but what about allllll the other cancers people are fighting with on a daily basis? There's even a T-shirt company that is somewhat popular down here, and they had released a shirt with a saying on it which I LOVED that was supporting those fighting cancer and honoring those who died from the disease. The statement was about cancer in general, yet there was a small pink ribbon on the front of the shirt and a large identical ribbon on the back denoting breast cancer. I contacted the company to share my family's experience with different cancers and asked about them keeping the same design but using a purple ribbon instead of pink. (The purple ribbon -- lavender in color -- is to represent ALL forms of cancer.) They said they actually would look into that, which made me feel better.

(To be on topic for a moment -- yeah, still not thrilled with his return.)

Do you not remember in 2008 when he broke his neck and came back in 3 months?.. He recovers fast.

Gotta try and beat Sammartino's record. Sammartino recovered from a broken neck in 3 weeks.
