With the rumour that Paul Fieg is to direct a reboot, but with female leads who would you cast in the film?

Pete Venkman role - Kristen Wiig/Sandra Bullock

Egon Sprengler role - Gillian Anderson

Winston Zeddmore role - Pam Grier/Naomi Harris

Ray Stantz - Emily Blunt/Sandra Bullock

Janine - Alison Brie/Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Louis Tully - Rick Moranis

Dana Barrett - Signourney Weaver

Wiig is one of the hottest comedy talents right now in film, and her acting style does remind me a lot of Murry's. Either her or Bullock could pull off the smooth talking/slim ball part but Bullock is more at home with girl next door type parts.

Gillian Anderson has already expressed an interest and would be perfect in the more up-tight/striaght Sprengler role. She also proved in the X-Files than she can be the perfect comedy foil.

Grier is a great actress who I would believe doing anything it is just her age which would be a factor here, but then it depends what direction they want to go in? Think Harris would do a very solid job too.

Blunt would be perfect for Stantz as she has the down to earth, nervous quality and is very funny. Again Bullock could do a good job here, but am edging towards Blunt.

Really like Alison Brie, but she maybe a bit too young and pretty for Janie. JLD came to me and if you were updating the character's age she would make sense. And that voice just smarks of Janine!

Would keep Moranis and Weaver as nods to the originals and maybe this time Louis will get his dream woman!

Thoughts on my choices? Who would you pick?

It's going to be Melissa McCarthy in tue Bill Murray role.

Movie will suck, because I read the synopsis for the original ghostbusters 3 script and it was almost perfect.

And what was the synopsis?

My feeling is that the second Ghostbusters film was rubbish, and that there were too issues with trying to reboot the series. So if they have to do then I think going in this direction is the best idea. Fieg understands comedy and with the right cast I can see them doing a good updating of it.

Ghostbusters 2 was fine, the effects were also better.

Just because a guy has one hit doesn't mean all his movies will be great. This movie wil just be Bridesmaids with proton packs.

But the effects being better isn't enough. The story was naff and jokes not good enough IMO. The effects being dodgy in the first film kind of works as it goes along with the idea that it was reflencing those old monster films.

Feig has done a little bit more than Bridesmaids for example his TV work on shows like the Office. My feeling is there was no point in bringing Ghostbusters back but if they had to do it this seems the best way to go.

Movies and TV sitcoms are not the same thing. The pacing of story structure and pacing of jokes is way different.

And reboots with a swerve cast never works. Never worked for honeymooners or isn't going to work with Annie and their all black casting.

Remaking Ghostbusters with an all female cast is like remaking Roots with an all white cast. It's just stunt casting at this point. It's like the female Terminator or white guyTerrence Howard as a southern rapper.

When you are working on set with comedy talent like Steve Carell and Rain Wilson I think it does help you in developement of how to shoot/write comedy and how to work with those kind of actors. Of course TV and film are different, but having that experience cannot hurt him.

The only way to do Ghostbusters now is to go in a different direction. There were too many problems with reventing to the old format/cast. On paper it could have been a disater, but I think it will be less of a disater with this director and with a strong female line-up.

Bullshit, you could still cast Aykroyd and Hudson to train newbies, they went the whole reboot route with stunt casting and it will suck.

Name one reboot that was better than the source material.

But, when did I ever say that it would be better than the source material? I didn't that would be almost impossible which is why it makes more sense to go in a different direction. There are other reasons besides the casting why it would be risky (BTW I have no problem with Hudson and Aykroyd being involved), such that the concept would seem dated now.

Several well-known comedic actresses are said to be in negotiations for the new Ghostbusters movie.

Former and current SNL cast membersKristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, andLeslie Jones are all in early talks for the film, according to Variety. Earlier this week, director Paul Feig confirmed that Melissa McCarthy was in talks as well.

Sources reportedly claim Cecily Strong is likely to play a government official, similar to William Atherton's role in the first Ghostbusters film.

Feig himself tweeted this image today of his quartet of ghostbustin' leads.

Well I don't know the other two so can't comment on them. Wiig I am pleased with, and deezy if you don't think that is a good looking woman then you have issues my friend:rolleyes: Would leave Mccarthy. As I said before the likes of Anderson, Blunt (who can do drama as well as comedy), and Harris would be good with either Julie-Louis Drayfus or Alison Brie as Jeanne. So the casting is a bit of a let down.

Kristen Wiig has a granny face, no amount of makeup can't cover that up.

Casting is just Lorne Michaels ejaculate. He will ruin ghostbusters like he ruined NBC late night.
