The third bout between heavyweights Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos has been confirmed for UFC 166 on Oct. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the date and location at a media luncheon in Las Vegas on Monday. Las Vegas-based MMA reporter John Morgan first tweeted the news.

Velasquez (12-1) captured the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 121 on Oct. 3, 2010, by defeating then-champion Brock Lesnar by technical knockout in the first round.

He and dos Santos (16-2) first met during the UFC’s debut event on the Fox Networks on Nov. 12, 2011. Dos Santos knocked out Velasquez in just over a minute to win the title and earned Knockout of the Night.

The two faced off for a second time at UFC 155 on Dec. 29, 2012. Velasquez defeated dos Santos in a one-sided bout to reclaim the UFC heavyweight title.

Dos Santos is coming off a highlight reel knockout of Mark Hunt at UFC 160 on May 25. Velasquez successfully defended his belt against Antonio Silva in the main event of the same card.

The heavyweight title bout is the only announced match-up for the Oct. 19 card at this time, but announcements for the remaining fight card are expected in the coming weeks.

JDS looked great against Hunt, and Obviously Cain wrecked Dos Santos in their last fight so this should be war.

This is going to be an awesome fight. JDS has that drive about him to get that belt back. Cain has been ripping apart anybody that is put in front of him ever since his loss. These two going at it... YES!

Strange contrast of fights since they last met. JDS had an impressive KO of Hunt and Cain destroyed Bigfoot again who looked so far out of his depth. Glad that we are seeing them face off for the third time already. Need to have that deciding fight to determine who is the best heavyweight around right now. I doubt that JDS will get completely destroyed like he did last time, he should put up more of a fight. Hoping for a war.

Still think it's too soon for the trilogy fight, they are both so young that they could end up facing each other another 5/10 times before retiring. If Cain wins again it's gonna end up like a Fitch situation where JDS loses to the champ and has to win like 10 fights to get another shot, holding him back because they blew their load on this too soon.

Would of preferred Werdum to have got the next crack, then maybe Barnett if he beats Mir. JDS could of took out Overeem and maybe Bigfoot in the interim to sell him as a beast again.

It's a good fight regardless, but too many rematches in the UFC man.

Agreed with what Cork said really. Just seems like these guys are almost certain to face off against one another every other fight at this rate.

JDS made that comment on some ESPN article that they are pretty gonna wind up facing off against each other prob around 5 to 10 times before they retire. They are pretty much the top two heavyweights so it is bound to happen. But it would have been nice if like Werdum would have gotten a crack. He has been on a roll as of late and looks to be quite the challenger.

Plus we have JDS vs. Overeem that everyone still wants to see. So although this is looking to be an awesome fight... I agree that it is too soon.

UFC sure love hotshotting their trilogy bouts.

If Cain wins, this feud is done. If JDS wins, this goes to five.

Zuffa looking to get into that lucrative and fertile latin market.

Pretty much what Cork said. These two are clearly above everyone else in the division, so unless the UFC unearths some new elite HW (unlikely as they focus on recruiting tiny wrestlers out of highschool) then the loser of this fight will just keep beating everyone else until they eventually get another crack at the belt and it'll continue on like that. No need to rush the third fight.
