Armed robbers who raided a Burger King restaurant were foiled when an employee spotted their getaway car — and drove it away.
The two men fled across a field, chased by police in Stockton, California.
They had burst into the fast food outlet waving guns and demanding cash from the till.
One member of staff then slipped out of the back door to raise the alarm. He saw their car with the engine running and drove it round the corner out of sight.
A telephone caller told the local radio station: "I think they should be on America's Dumbest Criminals."
Police later arrested suspects Jeremy Lovitt, 23, and Gabriel Gonzalez, 19.
