BTB of the Year Awards - 2023 (VOTING)

Hello one and all! I hope everyone's 2024 is off to a great start so far. I am hoping to make 2024 a great year for the BTB section and want to kick things off with some awards for 2023! For this first year of awards, I think we'll keep it fairly simple with just a handful of awards because I know it's going to be difficult for people to remember specific things from the year. Going forward, I'm going to pull a page from WolfBeast over at WrestlingClique and will set up an ongoing short-list thread where people can keep ongoing lists of things they want to remember/consider for year end awards.

But, since we didn't do that last year, we're going to need to use our collective brainpower to remember things that happened in 2023 in our own projects and our favorite projects.

So here's a couple things you can do in this thread.

1. Highlight your own work. Yes, that's right. Go ahead and pimp your own stuff. Tell us what you think people should consider for each category from your own project. Toot that horn baby!
   
   
2. Highlight others' work. Tooting your own horn is fun but let's toot the horns of other people! So remind us of what stood out in your favorite projects of 2023.
   
   
3. Finally, DM me a list of three (3) nominees for each category. No, you don't HAVE to do all the categories and you don't HAVE to give me three each.. but it's certainly strongly encouraged to do so to make sure we get a nice list of nominations when we get to the voting stage. You have until January 22nd at 12PM eastern to DM me your nominations.

BTB of the Year
There were a lot of great projects in 2023. Which ones stood out the most? What BTB will be the best of them all? You cannot nominate yourself.

Booker of the Year
Which writer did the best bookings? Wrote the best matches and promos? Who is the 2023 All Star Writer? You cannot nominate yourself.

Non-Wrestling BTB of the Year
The Shady Acres award for best BTB in the Non-Wrestling Section. You cannot nominate yourself.

BTB Show of the Year
Which show within a BTB was the grand daddy of them all for 2023? 1 of your 3 nominations can be your own work.

BTB Match of the Year
What was the best written match within a BTB of 2023? 1 of your 3 nominations can be your own work.

BTB Promo of the Year
What was the best written promo within a BTB of 2023? 1 of your 3 nominations can be your own work.

I added a Non Wrestling BTB of the Year category because that was an oversight on my part. I also added some verbiage around what you can or cannot nominate yourself for when you DM me. In the next couple days I will put together a list of the top BTBs of the year according to BTBOTM voting points and also try to highlight some BTB shows, matches, and promos that I can recall from my favorite projects.

Here are the TOP TEN BTBs of 2023 according to BTB of the month voting points.

2. WCW/ECW Alliance by RDT (182 points)

Special shoutout to Pandemic Project (DTP), Alliance (RDT), and No Wildcards (Roy) being the 3 BTBs that were represented in all 12 of 2023's BTB of the Month lists.

Also here are the top performing writers of the year based on number of podiums (1st, 2nd, 3rds) in 2023.

1. DTP with 8 total podium finishes. This includes 1 1st place finish (April 2023) as well as 5 2nd place finishes and 2 3rd place finishes.

2. RDT and Roy with 6 podium finishes. Both RDT (December) and Roy (February) picked up 1 1st place finish. Roy grabbed 4 2nd places and 1 3rd place while RDT had 2 2nd places and 3 3rd place finishes.

3. Stojy with 5 podiums including back to back 1st places (October & November) for Jim Cornette's WCW. Stojy also got 2 2nd places and 1 3rd place. Stojy is also the only writer to podium with two projects, with WWE 2009 getting a 2nd place finish in March.

Besides Stojy - two other writers nabbed 2 1st place finishes in 2023. That being Order and Dubble J.

Rounding out the list of other writers who grabbed the top spot in BTBOTM in 2023 included Deco90 and Tig!

The nominations are in and I thank the five people (BattleTank, DTP, Dubb, RDT, and Roy Mustang) who helped by sending in nominations that got us to this point. I've tabulated the nominations to have the top 5 (or 6 or 7 depending on ties).

Now comes the important part. The VOTING. Anyone can send in votes. The rule here is you cannot vote for anything involving yourself or your own project.

For each category, please choose a winner and a runner up. The runner up totals will only be used in the event of a tie.
