Just saw where AEW tried to get the rights to The Final Countdown but Europe wanted $50K per play. That's nuts. You'd think with Europe being pretty much a one hit wonder, they'd want to make money off that, but nobody's paying that. :lol

Speaking of which, how did ROH manage to get around that back in the day?

I think the 50k number is what Lenny Leonard said they wanted ROH back in the day and I think they got around it bc for whatever reason bc their PPVs weren't live or some shit.

Which means they coulda been asking for even more in 2021 lmaooo yeah no complaints by me if they were asking for too much

Even at 50k a pop that's probably more in a year's worth of play than Bryan's contract, crazy bastards

Live or not, they still put out PPVs via DVD and sold them for profit. You'd think musicians would have issue with that. Like, I get house shows that aren't televised, but stuff sold on DVD? Seems odd.

i learned years ago that what's logical and what happens don't always correlate, especially when it comes to legal loopholes and technology specifically

AEW could have used a knocked off copy of it because if I remember U.S. copyright correctly they could get some local band to cover said song and avoid copyright and all. That is what Keiji Mutoh did since he also used The Final Countdown, but switched to a "different version" of it.

Oh I think this is true too bc I remember some of the guitar hero and rock band games would have cover versions of songs that sounded close to the original and not even credit the cover band, they would just be like "as made famous by...etc."

Pretty much. That is also how some Hip-Hop producers get around playing royalties so if AEW wanted The Final Countdown badly, they could have easily done what Guitar Hero and all did.

Yeah I probably would have been all aboard that move if they chose to but now that I've heard this theme, I'd prefer it than a cover I think

I will always prefer orchestra/opera over crappy 80's hair metal, but from what I heard on videos after the flight sample it sounds alright.

I didn't hear the "you're gonna get your fucking head kicked in" part live but I think it'll come across better with normal crowds and also it guarantees those chants return :garrett

Chants are the one thing I both miss and hate in wrestling. Though I wouldn't mean hearing the Ole chant for Sami/El Generico one more time.
