Bret Hart is a whiny fucking bitch. It was a great idea by HHH and it wouldn't have had to happen if he would have manned up and dropped the strap.

Bret Hart is an egomaniacal son of a bitch. In my book, there are two possibilites in this whole screwjob thing.

1. Vince, despairly looking for a way of getting the belt out of Bret before Raw, of the huge risk that Bret didn't showed up and appeared at Nitro and embarrased the belt, found in HHH, a man looking for approval since he lost it for that MSG incident, and HHH suggested the screwjob, HBK happily say another title reign so didn't object and what happened is history.

2. Bret, HBK, Vince and Earl all knew what was happening, and it was an all win situation. Vince gets out the title of Bret saving his company, HBK becomes one more time the face of the company, Earl gets in history as the most well known ref in history, and Bret goes down as the eternal, biggest sympathetic babyface of all industry

Aussie Icon, your a little off on your history.

Bret already had a 10 year contract. But Vince couldn't aford it. Remember this was around the time the WWE was close to going out of buisness. Vince encouraged Bret to seek employeement in WCW. Its in Brets book as well as the Wrestling with Shadows documentry. Thing is, Bret was a bit of a cry baby for awhile, but now if he even gets asked about it now fans always say, oh look he's crying again. Which he's not. Bret has let it go for the most part. He had to talk about it in his book. If he had ignored it all together he'd be slapping the fans in the face. As for did Vince screw Bret or did Bret screw Bret. Bret did not screw Bret. ANd here is why.

For well over a month and a half before Survivor Series, Vince & Bret knew Bret was going to be leaving. Vince had pleanty of time to take the belt off him prior but chose not too. They could have easily had Bret lose the title at the Bad Blood PPV prior but instead was in a tag team Flag match with Vader & The Patriot. Yes the HBK vs. Taker fued had to come to a head. Why not have HBK beat Hart on Raw for the title prior to Bad Blood have the Taker vs. HBK rematch in HIAC be for the title. Have the same ending with HBK only retaining due to Kane's debut. Then have Bret demand his rematch for Montreal Survivor Series. Have Bret go over by DQ as Vince had originally promised. But have added a stipulation that somehow has Bret agree that if he doesn't win the Title in Montreal he quits the company. Bret wins by DQ which allows the Montreal fans to celebrate as Bret and the Foundation clear the ring of DX, but HBK retains the company and Bret is never seen again.

So in other words Vince did screw Bret...but not in Montreal, he screwed him when he allowed Bret to hang on to the title for so long when it obviously wasn't nessisary. However I do agree that at that point Vince really had no choice. He couldn't allow Bret to leave with the belt.

yeah i was tired as when i posted that. i read it today and realized i was a bit off in it.. But yeah i agree with your statement... I own wrestling with shawdows but havent viewed it in probaably 7-8 yrs.....

vince had to Protect his Championship and company image. but he could of had Hart lose the championship early date to HBk.. Say On Raw.. then Bret Hart could of won by dq or Lost at. s.series...

but i guess they didnt thought that through...plus didnt wanna put HBk Vs Hart on FRee TV as it was match in the making of 18 months..

wasn't WM 13 going be hart vs HBk but hbk bitched out
