– WWE announced via Twitter that WWE Hall of Famer will appear on this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

Their statement reads: “This Friday on @WWE #SmackDown, WWE Hall of Famer @BretHart will be SmackDown’s GM from his hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada!â€￾

Rumors also have it that Bret Hart could be taking over Teddy Long's role of being the General Manager. If this is true, how will you react?

UPDATE: He is serving as the GM for one night... but reports have it that later down the track he could just as well be the GM.

Seems interesting considering whats going down with the rest of his family. After staying away after being disrespected the first time you think something like whats supposedly happening to DH that if it were true Brett wouldn't be so inclined to help out WWE

Long has gotten a little old hat for me, he has always done a solid job as GM, but I just find his character too bland, it is time for a change. Also making someone like Hart GM would add the star appeal to Smackdown which is sadly lacking right now. Bret is good on the mic, is someone fans will react to, and because he is a very reserved figure who can fit in as a face or heel just as well then that adds a layer of mystery to him in the role. I guess if they are considering making it a full-time gig, then maybe this SD will be a trial run.

Bret Hart as GM for one night makes sense since they are in Canada. I don't want it to be a long term deal though, just one night and that is it.

Bret has already commented about DH Smith's release and he said it would be best for him in the long term. He can go away and work on his skills and come back better than ever. This wasn't anything like the previous situation, this time everyone knew that DH would be released since he had done nothing for many months.

I thought I read somewhere DH Smith wanted to try and get into MMA so I think that maybe there is abit more to that story than is being told by both sides. And Brett as gone on record about it saying it was good for him as mentioned before. Long is boring for me has been scince his "heart attack' so I think that its time for a change brett would be a solid replacement and would be interesting to see, Foley is also another name that springs to mind.

I was refering to the issue with asking for equipment and getting half of it and a pic of Mae Young. I knew of the other.

But why don't you think Hart could be a good long term GM Troy? Surely with his history and the way he would peak fans interest then it could be a really good fit, and like I said I do think it is time for a change.

What happened with the equipment? I don't seem to remember that story.

When he was RAW GM he was a bit boring. He isn't very charismatic in the role, or at least wasn't that time, and so I would rather see someone like Foley who can do everything from comedy to serious and has plenty of charisma for the role.

Apparently DH and his mother asked for some things back from Fan Axxess. They claim that some of it was missing or in dis repair But that the box did include an autographed picture of Mae Young. News feed had it about a week ago.

Maybe it does depend on what Hart is given to work with, personally I always thought he was strong on the mic during his career, and look at someone like Jake Roberts, he didn't have charasma, but he didn't need it because he knew how to pace a promo, he knew how to grab the fans attention, by what he is saying and making each word count, and thats what Hart has.

I must have missed that. Poor effort by WWE if that is the case.

But I am talking about his recent appearances in the past couple of years. During that time he hasn't been that impressive on the mic and hasn't had that spark.

Fair enough and I must say he was a bit rusty on smackdown this week, but I still think it is time for someone to replace Long who has outstayed his welcome.

Teddy Long is now part of the furniture on Smackdown and I can't see him leaving for a long time. If they haven't moved him on by now I don't think they ever will unless Long wants to retire.
