With Bray, I'm strongly inferring that he just wanted out of a creatively unsatisfying situation for him. I diss him plenty but at the end of the day, he was meticulous and highly invested in his gimmicks, and probably had a lot of grand ideas about his on-screen direction. Yet, time after time he was unable to see it through - having his vision warped, losing nearly every pivotal match of his career and just generally falling victim to WWE's short sighted booking. For someone like him who clearly takes great pride in crafting his characters, I imagine working for WWE is a living hell.
So, I'd be surprised and frankly disappointed if he signed back to WWE in the near future. Braun seems a much more likely candidate to do that, because no one's ever really accused him of caring about anything other than money in this business.
