Yeah, from my short on again off again tenure with mma, I've yet to see a brawl break out. I really hope that wasn't fixed though. I lol'd at the Strikeforce exec. not watching the show.

EXC supposedly rigged their fights to stay standing up, which I totally believe, and now Strikeforce might be rigging fixed brawls? Why don't these organizations model themselves off the UFC?

Heres a really good version. If this was set up I'm goin to be pissed as fuck. But if not I'll be even more pissed. Even as a Miller fan. This is the kind of shit we don't need in MMA. Shit talking fine but what is this Basketball?

Mayhem is a joker but this *straight face* is not very good for Strikeforce's future on CBS. I'm sure they'll fine Mayhem or give him the finger wave but nothing serious.

*breaks from laughter*

SO WHERE'S MY REMATCH?!

Mayhem's apology:

Jason "Mayhem" Miller issues apology for part in "Strikeforce: Nashville" brawl
by Dann Stupp on Apr 19, 2010 at 8:35 am ET

Fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller has apologized for his part in a brawl that spoiled the ending to this part Saturday's "Strikeforce: Nashville" event that was broadcast live on CBS.

Miller, who defeated Tim Stout in a preliminary-card bout, entered the cage after the April 17 main event and Strikerforce middleweight champion Jake Shields' victory to demand a rematch of their November fight.

Miller's confrontation prompted Shields and other members of the Cesar Gracie camp to either shove or all out tackle and slug the fighter in what's already being called one of the biggest black eyes the sport has ever suffered.

The in-cage melee took place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., and ended CBS' second-ever Strikeforce event.

Although Miller himself never turned to physical violence, he apologized for "setting off a chain of events that cast a dark shadow on the sport."

From www.mayhemmiller.com:

"I would like to formally apologize to CBS, Strikeforce and all fans of mixed martial arts for my role in the events following the 'Strikeforce: Nashville' event. In retrospect, my timing could not have been worse to ask for my rematch with Jake [Shields], and I take full responsibility for entering the cage and setting off a chain of events that cast a dark shadow on the sport. I've been a fighter and a fan of MMA for over 12 years and would never do anything to intentionally tarnish the sport I've given my life to. In the excitement of the moment, I let my emotions run high and made a bad choice that resulted in a debacle. For that, I sincerely apologize."

On the night of the event, Miller posted a Twitter message that simply stated, "Whoops."

Shields, who picked up his 14 straight win with a decision victory over Dan Henderson, and teammate Gilbert Melendez, who decisioned Japanese star Shinya Aoki to defend his lightweight belt, both apologized for their actions in the brawl. Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz and brother/UFC fighter Nate Diaz were also involved and seen tackling Miller to the mat.

As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported soon after the event, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker had already been ushered to the night's post-fight press conference when the scrum broke out. He said he planned to watch tape of the incident and could punish those involved. He said Strikeforce in no way encouraged the post-event confrontation.

In the same press conference, Shields said his relationship with Miller has been hot and cold. Before the fighters fought for the belt in November during Strikeforce's first CBS broadcast (Shields won a decision that Miller called "boring" and heavy on "lay and pray"), Shields twice had appeared on Miller's MTV reality show, "Bully Beatdown." However, after the event, Shields said his actions after the event were typically "disrespectful" of Miller.

Not surprisingly, Coker didn't address the possibility of a rematch.

Tennessee Athletic Commission to Formally Investigate Brawl lol

Tennessee Athletic Commission formally to investigate "Strikeforce: Nashville" brawl
by Dann Stupp on Apr 19, 2010 at 12:05 pm ET
The Tennessee Athletic Commission has launched an investigation into a post-event brawl that concluded the CBS-televised "Strikeforce: Nashville" event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville this past weekend.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today contacted Jeffrey Mullen, the commission's director, who declined to comment on the situation until the commission's investigation is complete.

No timetable was given, but the investigation could lead to disciplinary action for those involved.

Soon after Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields defended his belt with a unanimous-decision win over former UFC fighter Dan Henderson, preliminary-card fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller interrupted the post-fight interview and demanded a rematch of their November fight, which Shields won.

Shields and teammate Gilbert Melendez, who defended his lightweight title in the night's co-headliner, began shoving Miller away from the mic. Then, fellow Cesar Gracie fighters, including Strikeforce's Nick Diaz and the UFC's Nate Diaz, began beating on Miller as hell broke loose inside the cage.

Shields and Melendez apologized for their actions in the night's post-fight press conference, and Miller issued an apology on his official website in which he expressed regret over sparking the melee.

The commission is likely to investigate who's to blame for the fiasco. Additionally, officials from the regulatory body surely will re-evaluate procedures that allowed so many cornermen and other camp members to enter the cage.

While the Tennessee commission's investigation could lead to disciplinary action, so, too, could an informal investigation Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker plans to do this week. As MMAjunkie.com reported soon after the show, Coker had already been taken to the night's post-fight press conference when the scrum began. Although he condemned the actions, Coker said he'd need to review the footage before taking any specific actions.

Coker said Strikeforce in no way orchestrated the Miller-Shields confrontation and doesn't support what happened afterward.

"There's no room in Strikeforce for that type of behavior," Coker said. "I will not condone and reward that type of behavior. If you're a fighter fighting at the highest level, and you're fighting on CBS, you're fighting on Showtime, you're fighting for Strikeforce – or any other mixed-martial-arts league – there's no room for that type of behavior.

"This is not something that we'll support or reward in the future."

This whole situation is just LOL.

Honestly I am suprised it took this long for an MMA fight to break out into an all out brawl.

Bye Bye Strikeforce.

I see it in Mayhems eyes. You throw down a boring fight on CBS are you for real dawg? He just came bye and made some drama. The corner for shields should be assraped for proving how amateur and immature they are.

(from what i heard it was the Diaz bros, lol i love those guys, hopefully they did it for ufc)

This has been done lots in UFC, my stoner brain won't let me recollect any and i'm not googling it, if you don't believe me fuck you bra.

Anyway, They don't fucking get into fights, cause they want to stay in the UFC. The champion is the one who pushed Mayhem, his corner took him to the ground bootstomping him and who the fuck knows what. yeah it;s your spotlight but prove how much of a Champion with the higher road you fucking tool. Shows how much they care for Strikeforce.

I understand how Shields felt disrespected. He got alot of shit going into this fight headlining the show, fighting Henderson, etc. I guess the frustration caught up to him to shove Mayhem first. However, still if Mayhem didn't get up in his face like that, this would have never happened, on camera atleast.

Shields should have kept his cool, I didn't think Shields was capable of this, he always looked like the squeaky clean nice guy type.

Erm, sorry but nope, never happened in the UFC. At least not since Zuffa took over. Yeah there were a couple shoves but no punches were exchanged. I blame whichever idiot it was that led Mayhem into the cage.

Am I the only one who reads this story and thinks that this was done by Strikeforce as a way to gain more exposure? I mean everyone's talking about how this is the end of Strikeforce, which would be nice. But I don't see it. I see this more as a ploy created to get media exposure and get Strikeforces name out there, gaining popularity because everyone wants to tune in so they can see what controversial shit is gonna happen next.
