Unfortunately, it's become commonplace among my coworkers to mention me in any posts relating to Pokémon. Let me make one thing clear: I don't have an unhealthy obsession with the franchise. I just think it's an incredibly deep and compelling series of turn-based RPGs, and while there may have been a time in my youth when I watched the anime or bought the merchandise, I'd like to think I've grown older and wiser since the late 90s. I only wish my coworkers would treat me as such.

Now, let me just check my news feed real quick, and I'll ... I'll ...

Holy CRAP! You guys, they announced a new Pokémon DS game -- not like a crappy offshoot like Trozei or Snap, but a totally new generation -- can you BELIEVE IT? Well Snap was okay, but anyways. Nintendo's announcement said there'd be new Pokémon and that "everything is planned to be born anew," and while I don't know what that means, I think my heart stopped a little when I read it! AHH!! It's coming this year. 2010! I knew when this year started that it was going to be the BEST YEAR EVER.

Any of the Pokemon games after the GBA ones haven't interested me at all tbh, Pokemon in general I suppose I just grew out of, imo it got wayy to out of hand with the constant adding of new Pokemon and it got to the point that it was just fucking rediculous. Nothing will ever top the original Red/Blue version imo.

So I'm guessing Ruby/Sapphire made you lose faith? It made me lose faith for a long time until I actually checked out the next generation on the DS. The new Pokemon games have evolved in terms of features and the newest legends pwn the old one's believe it or not.

Pokemon Platinum especially that has lots of old Pokemon plus it has the two newest games combined. I will say comparing the original two generations to just the roster of the newest Pokemon the old Pokemon win easily. But the DS games rape the old games in features, graphics, and it obviously has the biggest roster of the Pokemon games. So the new games win but I certainly love the nostalgia of the old games.

Yeah the graphics and features and things of the like I knew improved one thing I didn't like about Ruby/Sapphire was that until FireRed/LeafGreen you had extremely limited access to the original (and imo the best) Pokemon. Now, the DS games I cannot comment on being that I have yet to play them, but I from time to time bust out the good ol'' GBA and play my old FireRed.

The DS games are a LOT faster then the old games which is my personal favorite feature. The bikes have like max turbo which is fucking nice.

Red/blue, Yellow, Gold/Silver were all cool games. I think I had one after that too, Crystal if I'm not mistaken. Even if you weren't a fan of Pokemon they were still really cool RPG games. My little cousin is into Pokemon now and I took a look at some of his cards and stuff, I have no clue what any of these things are now..lol. How many Pokemon are they up to?

493 lol. With this new generation it will move up anther hundred or so. My skills as a Pokemon Master will be seriously tested lmao. Yea the Pokemon games are some of the best RPG's period. I love the games. As for like the show, cards, movies, and other stuff fuck all that shit. That stuff is for kids but the games are deep and made for everyone.

My brother is also into Pokemon (which I think is a prerequisite of being a kid nowadays) I honestly lost interest after The inital Ruby/Sapphire games, which really came at the end of my fascination with the franchise. But like I said before from time to time I will play my old Pokemon games for nostalga''s sake.

The show was cool back in the day lol now when I watch it with my brothher I can''t help but cringe. The card game was like an epedemic when I was in grade school man every damn body had them I remember when fights and shit would break out over fucking cards lol. But sometimes I will play the card game with my brother, mainly because of the nostalga and I know what it's like having all these cards and having to play with yourself (that didn't sound right lol) call me sappy if you want but its sad. The games were awesome though and they always will be.

I honestly tried watching these new episodes of pokemon, but they are boring. Not enough action like it use to be. And you can't get emotionally attached to it because things happen so fast. I cried when Ash let his Butterfree go and marked out when his pokemon evolved in the 1st series. Can't do that now.

As for the games, I liked the old ones better. Silver is my favorite of them all. And Emerald wasn't that bad. It's amazing though how I was watching the show, collecting the cards, playing the games when I was young (I was 10 I think, maybe 11) and now my little brother is doing the same.

I "borrowed" my little brothers DS last year, and I still have it.

When yellow came out, me and my friends would spend at least 3 hours a day on it. Red/Blue came out, everyone was pumped for it, it was in colour, it was like, holy fuck.

Then Gold and Silver. By that time it was uncool to play them, though I have no doubt everyone still did. And after that, I lost interest. I've got a DSi so I'll have to get this game pronto. Hopefully it'll reignite my pokemon flame.

You need to get Pokemon Platinum. It's basically Pokemon Diamond/Pearl combined. Plus it has features exclusive to Platinum. I also suggest in you getting HeartGold or SoulSilver when they come out which are the remakes of Gold/Silver.

LOL...guaranteed anyone who bashed those games would run home and play the shit out of them just like everyone else did. I watched the show when it was initially popular, I think up until around the movie came out or something like that. Once they started adding all of the new Pokemon I really lost interest. You can't deny the games were still really fun to play. If I still had Gameboy I would honestly break it out and replay the games for kicks...cool stuff...
