He was also on one of those Talent shows as a judge for a long bit. America's got Talent I think, where he and Gwen Stfani cheated on their spouses and got married. I'd venture he's more popular with non country listeners because of that show. I like country, don't care for most of his though.
It was the voice
The only songs of his I like are Austin, and Ol' Red
Bingo and you wanna know why.......

Almost all country artists today have good songs before they hit it big, then they get into this mainstream country crap that imo almost can't be called country and they make bad songs for the masses. There a some that stay grounded to their roots/origins but far too many i can name that I Iike their songs when they were nobodies and no one had heard of them and then they hit it big and its just this modern day "country" stuff afterwards.

Imo its the same with Canadian Country as well

For me it depends on the specific song. He's a great songwriter but his voice only fits certain songs imo.

both story tellers, I think it is a pretty good comparison for what they are praised for.

and regarding Dylans voice, Idk, Tom Petty has a pretty dumb voice too and I still like it. I also listen to death metal and punk so Dylan is pretty low on the annoying voice diagram for me personally lol

I’d just say Dylan is more folk rock and Springsteen is just pop rock

But opinions vary

Yeah it’s not the voice for me it’s just I don’t vibe with the folkier shit much like I don’t vibe with Neil Young…
