THE next James Bond movie is set to blow its rivals out of the water - in product placement revenues.

Studio MGM and the film's distributor, Sony, have agreed a deal to raise £30 million ($50 million) from companies seeking to associate their brands with the 007 franchise, one-third of the film's budget, The (London) Sunday Times reported.

This would double the previous record held by Steven Spielberg's 2002 Minority Report, starring Tom Cruise.

Among the firms being lined up are rapidly expanding Chinese technology companies.

The as-yet untitled film, the 23rd in the franchise, will star Daniel Craig as the smooth-talking British secret agent and Judi Dench as Bond's boss. But the hunt is still on for a new Bond girl.

I think this is a pretty smart way these days to raise the huge amounts of money required to produce top movies.

This is Bond so a car company will give them plenty of money so that their car models will be used in the film. Interesting to read that chinese technology companies will be used, maybe we will see a high tech storyline for this Bond 23. Hopefully a list is produced so that everyone can see what brands will be advertised.

I really don't care what brands are product placed, it is Bond which means I am going to watch it as soon as it is released.

Sucks that Daniel Craig returns. I'm against the grain, and don't like him at all as Bond. Loved the films up until he got cast (although Brosnan's last film sucked).

Didn't like the last 2 Brosnan Bonds and Daniel Craig was a breath of fresh air. I liked Casino and Quantom because it wasn't so CGI'd and fake looking. Anyways, although product placement is a shrewd business move, I still feel like over commercialization of films is whoring the integrity of film. But thats an old argument that was lost along time ago.

A point that's applicable to lots of things in the world. Commercialization is ripe.

Unfortunately you are right about the comercialization of everything.

Thought Charlie Brown taught us all about the evils of commercialization.

Die Another Day is one of the worst Bond films of all time.

I really enjoyed Casino Royale but I did think that Quantum of Solace was more like an action film than a Bond film. Hopefully it switches back to being pure Bond rather than a generic action film.
